How much of an impact will suspension and brakes have?

I was looking to make my ride look a part of my identity - fast and sporty.
Some suggest that tweaking suspension and brakes will help but I don't think that they will help in altering the outlook of the car, though they surely will help in increasing speed and handling.
Any suggestions...

Lowering it will.
Widening the track will.
Changing the appearance of the wheels, will massively.
B5 S4 Saloon Widebody Track Car.
B5 RS4 - now sold.
