MTM chip or MRC ?

Had the car almost 10 months now and is fantastic fun 8)

But it's starting to feel slow now ! (just getting used to the pace I guess)

Living in Brighton I naturally let QST look after it so was considering getting a chip/remap done and as QST will be servicing it I am thinking the MTM chip is the best way to go.

But the MRC remap is £650 and the MTM chip is £940 so would'nt mind saving a bit. Do you think it will p***s QST off if I get it remapped by MRC and then continue to service it at QST.

I think choosing which one you want to use is down to your own personal preference you will hear alot of good about both of them.

If going to MRC is going to save you money, bearing in mind fuel costs and time as well as a factor then go to MRC

If QST is more convenient for you and cost isnt a factor go to QST.

I dont think QST will mind if you use MRC they will understand that price is a big factor and after all we all have competitors

My only advice would be is to phone or visit QST and tell them of your dilemna if they were a company worth there salt then they will understand and maybe give you a discount either now or in the future.

Just my 0.01p worth not an overpriced 0.02p worth

I think you will find power results from all upgrades are very similar, however MTM has a new chip soldered in the ECU whereas (to my knowledge) the other firms remap the existing chip. Also there is alot to be said for customer service by the supplying firm -- but that opens up a whole new can of worms!!!!. I have had MTM for 6 1/2 years on my car with no problems - well respected German quality. If you go for the MRC why not let them service the car, it is only once a year - unless you are jonp

Like you QST is much closer to me than MRC but based on the comments, recommendations and reviews on this forum i decided to take the drive up to Banbury (which lets face it isn't a bad one) and let them carry out the health check and subsequent custom remap, and i must say i have never regreted it, those guy's really know what they are doing.
I reckon on an average day you could be with them in under 2 hours,M23-M25-M40 and 5mins later there you are.
As for future servicing i guess its up to you, the car i bought had had work done at QST in the past and MRC didn't have a problem with that so i don't see any issues with the situation in reverse.

Hence why i used a little diplomacy in my first posting on the subject as i have only used MRC and cant really comment on any others,

does that answer your question, well for me at least.

I wasn't having a go - just wondered as I have taken the MTM chip of my car so I can have a re-map tailored for my car, as we have done a few other mods as well.

I taken it to Sport Tech which is the best local specialist to me as I live in Nottingham.
