Hi,
Had someone (I think Ozz had) experienced Unichip in Audi's engine?
How was it? Worth it?

I'd agree.

I've never seen a unichip setup work well on a turbo car.
There are a variety of complications with them, problems like signal degradation for example.
They are expensive and rely on the existing system. You need an extra module for boost control and AFAIK they cannot map on boost.

You'd be far better off getting a custom remap from AmD/Jabba etc. Or better still moving to a mappable ECU.

The problem is I live in Brazil, where we have all gasoline with 24% of ethanol due to ambient regulations. This fuel is cooler and has a better octane than regular gasoline. But the steichiometric balance is richer than normal.
Then I have to work with programmable devices instead of “pre-prog” chips. I have also a little bit afraid of programming a full programmable ECU (things like air-conditioning enrichment and so).
Do you have another solution like a different piggy-back ECU or what?

Stay away from the Unichip - it is an incomplete device and only deals with timing and fuelling, no boost control at all which means it requires a separate boost control device (AVC). This is all far too crude and a competent map of the Motronic microcontroller will do the job better. If someone wants a high-end ecu on the RS4, Motec M800 is the one to go for, assuming Motec Europe (or Australia) can provide a properly working loom adaptor for the M800 to connect to the RS4 wiring loom. So far (and I do speak from 1st hand experience), the loom adapter has not been made in this country. It is, however, being worked on.

Alternative to MoTeC is Autronic, at least as good at MoTeC but a damm sight cheaper.

I think that stand alone ECU is too much. I was just searching for an easy way to control my car. I did a remap, but I think it wasn’t how I expected.
I work in financial, but I’m an engineer, and I think that even I could do a better job.

Is there a cheaper (and easy) remap software and tool for motronic in the market in Europe that I can own and do the job myself?

What you are after is a emulator for motronic, this is the sort of stuff that AmD/Jabba etc will use when remapping your car. AFAIK you are into thousands to buy one.. hence the attraction of a mappable ECU cos its cheaper, more flexible and IMHO will allow you to get better gains ( provided you can map a car of course ). Also lets you have other outputs for controlling water injection, intercooler sprays, NOS etc...

Definately get it, but be sure to have it properly tuned.

Have to say I'm quite impressed with the flatness of the torque curve. I've only seen Sportec come close to as flat a curve as that [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]

Like Crafty says, there is a lot of trade off against the previous map (MTM) and obviously overboost is reduced dramatically. It will be a lot slower 0-60 and 0-100, but after that should start to catch up again.

Bit like the comparisons made between JR's MTM and my Sportec mods [img]images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

what's more:
MTM now - means power with UNICHIP switched off, but ECU was remaped by the sweeds. Power graph after standard "420hp" chip from MTM is the "MTM before"....as you can see... not even close to 420hp
