Some of you will remember that I was looking at putting a FMIC on the old S4, well I ordered it back in September last year.
Obviousley the S4 was sold earlier this year but I decided to keep with the FMIC and changed the order to suit the RS.
I have been chasing the parts for ages but finally it has arrived, just waiting for the oil cooler and fan to arrive (Friday) and then it will be off to QST to get it all fitted in.

I have had some people tell me not to bother as the audi IC's are efficient enough but personally I beleive that is more due to the fact that they cannot supply the parts I am looking for, in this weather I notice a pretty significant performance drop and beleive the front mount will remove this.
Well someone has to be the first in the UK to try it on an RS4 (that I know of).

Will post some pics of the FMIC tomorrow and I will try to get some install pice next week.
If anyone is interested let me know and I will post up pre and post RR plots also.

I completely agree that the original IC's are not up to it, particularly in hot weather. I have considered the FMIC and have talked to DUH at length. I have even ordered the parts to enlarge the opening in the bumper of the S4 in readiness. It looks a really well engineered piece of kit but I thought very expensive. Are you going the whole hog with Wiggins clamps? What did it cost all in including the adaptor pipes for the RS4 intake, VAT, duty, shipping etc? Make sure you post the results of any power gains. Me thinks the power figures on rolling roads could look much better with the FMIC as the airflow is limited in this environment compared to 100mph+ on the real road. Are you not going for the nitrous intercooler spray?!

By the way, are you gonna get another re-map or do you think this is not necessary?

Sounds interesting...After seeing the mods you did to the S4 I didn't expect the RS to stay standard for too long ;-)

IMO the power gains will not really show on the rolling road as you are controlling the IAT at the
time of the power run, ie keeping the ambient low, but we will see.
The real gains should be seen on the road in the weather we are having now.
I had planned to use the std clamps but due to the long wait Eric very kindly sent me the wiggins clamps etc FOC with the intercooler ,thank you Eric. I have to say these look ecxellent.

Having had a good look at the parts all I can say is it is a work of art, I am not sure whether to put it on the car or hang it on the wall in the living room !!!!

Re the remap, not sure on that one, in theory you should be able to remap for the lower EGT and IAT temps
but it would be a custom map not off the shelf, I may talk to Kim at QST to see if Peter could come over and have a go.
The install looks pretty major, but I still hope to get it all fitted up sometime next week.

I will post some pics to my gallery after this post.

Having trouble uploading pics as I am on a very slow remote connection at the moment, will post them tomorrow when I am back on broadband.

It looks a nice piece of kit mate. I would prefer to see it on your car not your living room wall.

Let me know if and when you want to sell the std IC's. I know some one that could make good use of them , wink wink.
