Some sticky gel around the rear battery compartment?? Help

Hello All,

I went to swap for a battery yesterday in a local garage and discovered there are some very sticky gel laid all over the surrounding areas and it seems to be coming out from nowhere

Anyone encountered the same problem before and perhaps know what is the cause? Moreover my rear DRC shocks also suffer from very very minor leak and i wonder is that anything to do with hydraulic fluid?
