Cool, I have no splash gaurds so cant fit mine atm...

They are only £20 from the vw dealer, bargain. And like Dave says better than nothing.

One word of caution though.

I would not wholy recommend these for cars with starndard solid discs on (grooved, drilled fine). The splash guards are there for a reason, which is to try and stop a layer of water building on the surface of the discs causing momemtary loss of brakes on the first contact with the pedal, e.g emergency braking on a wet motorway. By fitting these ducts to the standrad disc set-up you may inadvertently make the problem worse.

Some modern cars actaully apply the brakes themselves in order to dry the discs off without the driver even knowing.
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.

Another bargain!

Thinking about it, for those with solid rotors. If the splash guards are only held on with 2 bolts then you could have 2 sets one modified with the ducts. Then on track days switch them over, should take no more than 5 mins each side.

Good idea. But a bit more than 5mins. You have to remove the pads, remove the disks and onlky then unbolt the splash guards.

Quick job with Movit or AP, but standard calipers are so fiddly to remove pads.

Since this posting back in October ... has anyone else fitted these? And DaveP - any further feedback/problems etc?

I fitted them to my S4 prior to Donnington - they went straight on (obviously needed to cut the splash guards slightly).

Forgot to say that they do rub on the inner (plastic) arches slightly when on full lock, but they are only plastic and bend quite easily.

A possible alternative if you can find a route for the ducting from the front of the car ... http://www.purems.com/products/description.php?II=929

Pretty happy, with the Movits it looks like the air is being directed into the correct place...
Just done mine the weekends. I drive drilled 365x34 with 8 Pot RS6 Callipers. I didn't need to cut the top bit though. Looks much more original this way. Did a few brake tests from 290km/h to 80 km/h and could immediately feel a huge difference. Also the brakes seem much more responsive too. But that might be also partly down to me cleaning those drill holes. ;-)

But all in all highly recommended upgrade! :D

Had mine done yesterday. Kim at QST fitted them while other work was being done. He noticed that the cut backing plate is quite flimsy and on full lock the metal touches the disc* (might cause scoring?). The cause of the deflection was a bolt at the bottom of a suspension arm/link - Kim pulled the bolt out and put it back the other way so that the bolt head was towards the front of the car - this stopped the fouling and stopped the backing plate touching the disc.

(*Movits380x32's).
