Dunc, the problem with your boost is because your car is black and mine is red.

Hey Dunc, your boost plot looks OK to me where do you see 1bar difference?

yeah I dont see a 1bar difference.

Yours spins up a bit later and backs off the boost more than sitas, but looking at the revs peak torque has already been made, hence same peak figs. Note that the differences with later spin up and backed off boost could be due to driving style ? very difficult to repeat precisely the same rate of acceleration over and over ?

TBH I'm not sure - Sita had some figures from which the graphs were produced but not necesarily the one you see here. I thought we read I was max of 1.35 and his was max of 1.45 bar, but on some other runs (4th gear to rev limit) I have hit 1.4 bar too.

Is it preferred to have the same torque but using less boost?

I think we might have noticed some ignition settings that were out of palce on mine but we are going to log mine in stock mode tonight.

I would think the 1bar less for you is an error somewhere, 1.4 to 1.5 is about spot on from Revo, cant see you having the same torque if there is a major boost problem mate

AL, tbh, I've got data overload at the moment - I'll spend some time this weekend going thru it. Dunc's car was definitely pulling back the ignition at higher revs whereas my car wasn't - however great thing about the Revo SPS3 device is that you can reduce the timing to eliminate this.

More to follow.

Any news Simon?

Just catching up with the posts about your car and thought I'd add that my car produced <beep> results on the rollers a couple of weeks back at TDI. From what I gathered they put this mainly down to heat pulling boost/timing back. I wasn't allowed to see the car on the rollers so don't know where the fan was positioned.
I managed to get the guy to take the car out on the road and get his opinion and he said that it clearly did behave differently. I was running high boost 5 timing 7.
Both Simon Elman (MTM) and I are now looking at getting FMIC's from Star Performance.
If you want my graphs then let me know. (It hit 1.2 bar BTW)

Cheers

Ben

Ben, all my opinion of course but I reckon timing 7 is too much for a RR. Simon and I both run Optimax and millers and we appear to be getting ignition corrections running timing 7 (I dont know if Simon logged this when he was on the RR)

I am down at Interpro next week, with Simon, so we will see how we do there - fancy taking PaulS3s place? Mitchell reckons he will be there too...

PS more logging tonight!

Ben,

I'm coming to the conclusion that there is nothing wrong with my car. All the data logging i've been doing has shown the car to be OK. I've got a new DV to fit now so, weather permitting, I'll fit it in the next couple of days and see if that makes a difference.

Feel free to send me your graphs/data so I can compare.

Also feel that you need to make sure your car is happy with the higher timing settings..

I've actually been running less timing (2 or 3) and not really noticed much difference. Taking boost back from 5 to 2 or 3 is where I really can feel the difference.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the car either, Grahams AmD car was virtually identical round CC, we couldn't get away from each other, so I highly doubt we're down power-wise.
Can't make next week Dunc, work and all that, shame really as I used to use Interpro years back on my Corrado when I lived in Bristol, a chap called Martin I seem to recall was a top man.

I've also got a new DV that I need to fit (RS6 one), unless it is cracked or something I doubt it'll make a huge difference.

Happy logging
