brakes and remap
brakes and remap
Really considering getting a full(front and back callipers, disk, pads)brake upgrade from b5 to b7 and milltek plus remap putting the car to 430bhp.What kind of price are me looking roughly?.Also would consider going upto 460bhp,but would i need a better clutch than my standard one,or would i be fine. Also is mrc the way to go?what about unit 20?would be alot more handy for me with it being Wirral .thanks Jay

RE: brakes and remap
splitting hairs mate,
I was speaking to Grizz last week and asked the same questions,
depends whether you fancy driving as far as MRC or go to Chester which is about half way for me.
to get to 460 bhp it was suggested you do the exhaust first before a remap otherwise you'll end up paying twice for the remap.

RE: brakes and remap
Probably in the region of £5-6k not including the clutch - probably fine on the std RS4 clutch.
You will be looking at a full Milltek system including cats to get up to the 460 mark, and that's probably the most expensive part of the upgrade. I've gone done the same route, but was lucky to pick up a used system in pretty much new condition.

Full system, air filter and a remap will get you 450-460,std clutch is fine even at this level of tune, better quality diverter valves are good idea also

It might cost you that much if you gold plate everything, otherwise I think you will find Unit20 much more reasonable!graemep wrote:Probably in the region of £5-6k not including the clutch - probably fine on the std RS4 clutch.

Gold-plating was optional, but that figure was based on some of the prices I have seen recently.Blue_Thunder wrote:It might cost you that much if you gold plate everything, otherwise I think you will find Unit20 much more reasonable!graemep wrote:Probably in the region of £5-6k not including the clutch - probably fine on the std RS4 clutch.
Front + Rear B7 brakes, at least £2k - best I've seen recently for the fronts only, including hoses was just under £1500 inc VAT (from Virdee on here).
Full Milltek system, including CATS, approx £1700-1800 +VAT (assuming AmD's £1900 exc. VAT is expensive as usual)
Custom map £650 (MRC)
All this assuming new parts, to which adding labour would be around the £5k mark, assuming the car is 100% - which a full Audi history will not guarantee, so allowing for new MAF and DV's.
RE: Re: RE: brakes and remap
Rear brakes alone are around 1k new. Stock clutch will be fine as long as its ok to start with. Milltek cats are around 1300.
Custom map is the key tho. Do you trust custom code after what happened with darrens?

clutch will be fine for 500 bhp. keep an eye on ebay for brakes . about £1100 for front and back from a 10k car is the going rate. i will have a milltek dual catback system for sale in a few weeks off my car. maybe the whole thing from turbos back. both tuners are excellent. you will find grizz cheaper on labour but mrc are the best for mapping an rs4
