Do a search for Kim Collins. Very well known and many opinions on the forums :)

p.s. If it's a B6 S4 then Kim doesn't do a remap as he's an MTM man and they say there's not enough benefit...or at least that's how it used to be unless it's changed.

I used qs Tuning for a few things on my TTR including a MTM re-chip, and suspension set-up. Although the products are first class I found them (qs) to be a bit 'Stand offish' to be honest. Now I'm sure this could just be me so give them a ring or just pop in and see how you get on. Kim Collins is a very knowledgable bloke and I'm sure he'll be able to help you out - if you can get past the dragon on the front desk that is  (That's if she's still there)

IIRC it's a family run business so the "dragon" is probably related in some way, possibly his mum?

In my opinion , stay well away from QST.

They didnt diagnose my problem when I first got the car and I parted with a fair sum of cash and was charged £2000, overcharged considerably on many items. Went away very upset.

Had my problem ssorted by another tuner for the cost of £150 after 6 months of owning the car. Then the car drove like it should have driven after QST looked at it.

I woudlnt go back there if it was the last Audi specialist on earth. oppps. Sorry they ar enot specialists. theyre just agents for MTM. Thats all.

Bad manners, treat you like crap and they seem to think theyre better than you.

Yep, thats what I thought too but was never sure it was Mum, I never said too much just in case I got a clip round the ear from her

Exactly, sums them up 100% with the attitude I've had from them so it's not just me then.

Having said that, I know that there must be some loyal qs Tuning customers out there (I don't know any but I'm assuming there must be otherwise they would be out of business by now if there weren't any) and are obviously quite happy with them but I don't think I will be paying them a visit in the not too distant future. Shame really because their Supercharger does sound 'Interesting'

I have used QST a few times as they are local to me too. The "dragon" is Kim's mum. To be fair, they have never let me down in terms of diagnosing faults that my local stealer, or MRC for that matter, couldn't sort out. I've also found that their workmanship is excellent. I decided to go with the MTM chip for my car, which was probably the most expensive out there, but with the reputation that MTM carries and their links to the factory, it gave me the reassurances I wanted.

They can come across as being stand-offish, and they are certainly not cheap, but they do know their stuff and I've got used to the "attitude" now, and just accept that that's how they are!

I bought my car with an MTM re-map and have been back a few times for other work too. I can't knock Kim for anything that I have asked him to do, although I wouldn't touch Movit brakes ever again.

I have been there a couple of times and a chap has arrived from Scotland to have his car serviced..so that must say something?

If we are all honest, everyone has a bad story about a dealer or indy they have used in the past!

I suppsoe the choice you have is to try Kim or travel elswhere to another indy. Indies have a better working knowledge of these than the dealerships.

I went to see him when I had the RS6 and he talked a good story. However I opted to have the car trailered to Germany to have the work done. Why you ask, well it appeared that they new what they were talking about in Germany and had what seemed to be a dedicated tuning shop and not just an MOT come local garage over there and even they didn't say too many nice things about Quattro Sports as it was then.

Also when you spend £15k of your hard earned you want and need to know what your getting is the very best you can afford.

That and the fact MRC didn't exist!
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I can certainly understand what some have posted regarding QST, although I had my previous Audi tuned by them and they've done the work on my RS4 recently (and it goes in to them in a week or so for the Koni's/H+R ARB's and new rear discs)

I trust them to do quality work and they've always been very helpful to me - no they're not cheap and to be honest - having read some of the testaments to MRC, I think if anything big went wrong with the car that wasn't something I'd use a dealer for, I'd not take it to QST but MRC - but like I said, if you want something done right and well and are prepared to pay, they're someone I would recommend for that.

Not sure what the quality of their product is like, but I e-mailed them a few weeks back asking for some tuning options and they haven't gotten back to me. Shame, as I've got the money sitting in my bank just waiting to be spent...

but I e-mailed them a few weeks
I think in these cases it is always best to use the phone to talk to someone, whether it's QST or MRC or Dialynx or any of the others out there. That way it will be a two way thing and the "tuner" is more able to tailor the advice to your specific needs. Questions that could crop up may include:
For a remap - generic or custom, and what sort of power delivery required, exhaust possibilities.
Brakes?
Suspension - road or track use or mix of both, lowering, tyres used.
Aesthetics of the car and any articular styling issues.
Budget

This is just a sample - and all can be discussed on the phone quite quickly.

I receive e-mail enquiries at work and will always try to phone the potential client directly (or e-mail them back and ask for a phone number) as it is far easier to understand the clients needs that way and also understand what bulls*t he or she may have been fed by his/her mates "down the pub".
