Engine Hesitation At 4500 rpm

Hi,

I have a problem with the RS2 at present. When accelerating hard it seems to splutter/hesitate at around 4500 rpm. It will do this in pretty much every gear, however if you slowly accelerate through the revband, it appears to be OK. The car is running on Shell V Power. NB Once it gets over the hesitation it absolutley flies.

I need to get this sorted now as it did it today during overtaking. Any ideas on what to look at and check?

Sounds like a leaking boost hose - check turbo to intercooler hose first

Will do. I've also been told to check plugs, the wiring around the coils and coilpacks.

Mine does it when the weather is warm unless I put octane booster in, worth a try it may be crap fuel ? (We get that a lot in Cornwall).

Changed the plugs today and put some more Super Unleaded in...........still the same. Need to check the hoses next.

Wit some help I've pulled the codes using Vagcom and it came up as the lambda probe and the mixture. These have now been cleared and the car is now perfect!

If you don't have Vagcom, take out the two red fuses for around 2 minutes until the memory clears.

Obviously if it does it again then I will look at replacement parts, but a 100 miles on and she's going very well. :biggrin3:
