Im looking into the possibility of getting one of these beasts, done some reading, but im still not 100% sure as to what i should look out for? There are currently a couple on autotrader, one is a green RHD for 10k, the other a blue LHD for 10.5k - this one looks good. Unfortunately the Nogaro blue one has gone :( Does anyone have any sound advice they can give me?

Where are you, Stark? There's a gaggle of us going to Goodwood for the Breakfast Club on April 6th - any good for you? Come and talk and point.

In "Wanted - RHD RS2" rs2315 has the best advice, he said to look for a car with history that doesn't need everything doing.

Mine had the history but at the MoT the rear brakes needed a tickle up, "That'll be eight million pounds, please." Okay, not eight million, but a lot. A full service and MoT with new rear discs and pads and a wee bit of work on the front suspension was £1750. If numerous things had to be done it would have been crippling.

If the car has been well maintained, however, the mileage is a minor concern. Mine has over 130K but uses hardly any oil, has been 100% reliable, goes like stink and looks the business. And it's an estate car! And you can get stuff in it! And it's a kitten round town, really.

Also, on the "all things to all men" front - the lads will know what I mean - the RS2 just looks confident and capable. My wife and I took it to a wildly expensive hotel in London and it didn't look out of place among the Astons and Bentleys. Bizarre, but true.

Is "gaggle" the collective term for RS2s?

I think it will be a "gaggle" once we all get together!
