Insurance premium increases?

Post by GTRS » Wed Dec 15, 2010 11:11 pm

Mine's just gone up 50% for renewal with Admiral. Cripes. 1yr NCD (no accidents, just all prev classic policies). Up from #800 to #1200

I've found elephant at #800 but have heard mixed things

I looked at my searches from last year, and most are up by a similar amount. Anyone else experienced such an increase? Have they taken a sudden dislike to the RS2?

I think its across the board mate. Insurance for the '4' went up £140. Not quite as high as yours. Have got limited mileage on yours?

Admiral, Elephant, Bell and Diamond are the same company, probably operating from the same building in South Wales. They are notorious for increasing the premium upon renewal. Cycle between Admiral Elephant and Bell (and Diamond if you are female) and barter the price down!

I did just that, having done about 5 mins of research. Phoned Admiral today, and they claimed that premiums were up 50% across the board (well, they would after that renewal quote). I was armed with the Elephant quote and ref number (lower excess as well by #500), and they matched it.

Clearly a bit cheeky, but I did a couple of searches, and they were still cheapest, so the renewal quote is no big deal.

Thanks for the tips

Got a surprisingly good price from LV on the nine year old S3 him indoors owns (full NCB, 5,000 miles per year as it's his second car) so it might be worth trying them.
