What's your operating temperature?

Post by darkhorse1210 » Fri Jun 10, 2011 9:54 pm

I've just had the auxilliary rad replaced on my RS2 having run it without one for quite some time. This was generally OK but occasionally when you got stuck in traffic it would get a tad warm and the fan would kick in. Generally speaking I only use the old girl when then roads are clear and give it a bit of juice and I guess there's plenty of cold air flowing through so the lack of an auxillary never really bothered me.

Anyway, I finally decided to get a new aux rad fitted recently to see how much this affected the operating temperature of the car. Not had time to test it properly yet as she now needs a new ignition barrel :bash:

So the question is what temperature does your generally sit at when given a bit of a poke? Mine generally sits around the 90 mark but hopefully the new rad may knock this down a touch.....

just been running mine on the motorway and then in stop start traffic - it seems to run well under 90 probably 80 -85 depending on how you read the markings.
Mine had a new aux rad and new radiator 14 months ago.

Well, the little front radiator. What a good time I had changing mine it took me about three weeks all in all, take a bit off put it back togehter, take a bit more off put it back to... Any how mine runs at about 80/90, though after a good bit of TOM FOOLERY it creeps a bit further up but not by much. The car is my daily driver, work and back 80/90. I did look at one other prior to getting this one and that too had front radiator danage. The problem being for the first few weeks of ownership every one else on the road seems to be driving backwards. Oh.. don't put hydaulic fluid into the coolant either I did that, what a nitwit cost me deep in the perse, though its okay now.
