OEM Bilsteins?

Post by urRS2 » Thu Jan 03, 2008 9:01 pm

Hi

Does anyone have the Bilstein Part #'s for the OEM Shocks for the RS2?

The online catalog makes no reference to the RS2 and the local agent is also battling and has asked me to check the thread diameter of the front strut (should apparently be 54mm???)

Thanks

Dear Will,
I replaced my front shocks 2 years ago and they are not Bilsteins but Boge and the oart number on the Boge are 10201-32168A
AUDI O.E. number 8AO 413 503 J. If you need help I have a contact who knows and loves RS2's in Pretoria where I buy my RS2 parts.

Boge = S2/ Bilstein = RS2

Hi

Thanks for the Boge details.

I have been trawling the net for several days now and most articles I have read make mention of the fact that the S2 and the RS2 share the same springs but that the RS2 was upgraded from Boge to firmer Bilsteins.

Here is an example of a quote from MCP Motorsport:

Relatively little has been done to the suspension, but the small changes have a
substantial effect. The RS2 uses the same coil springs as the S2 Estate, so the car is no
lower. The S2 has Boge shock absorbers, which are very good, but the RS2 has
Bilsteins, which offer firmer damping. Both anti-roll bars have a greater diameter, 28 mm
at the front (instead of 26 mm) and 16 mm at the rear (12.5 mm). The combination of
firmer damping and heavier anti-roll bars combine to reduce the amount of roll on corners,
making the RS2 much more enjoyable to drive on winding roads."

That is why I am looking for the details for Bilsteins.

Thanks

AS RS2315 says.
The above passage is rubbish, Some press cars might have had the Bilsteins, but NOT production cars.

if you want to put bilsteins though here are the part numbers:

front: PE3-3086
rear: HE3-6212----------> these are off the audi S4 model and need to make a small modification to the base clip for the spring sitting around 13mm

Hi again
I have been in touch with the local agents regarding the Bilsteins and it looks like the B6 Sport (008809) may be the answer:
Front: PE3-3086
Back: BE3-6212
Thanks for the feedback.

Other option is Koni's. Put them on my RS2 when I was in ZA. Must say though, the rear Boges are pretty good, but also pretty expensive.
I could also only find front Bilsteins, that is why I went for the matching Koni's. Spent a lot of time on RS2 suspension, AR Bars and tyres, ---- Tyres, tyres, tyres - so important. Stay away from the Dunlops in ZA.
