Do you think you can join ADAC at the ring? like you find RAC outside supermarkets etc???
I guess there is no way I can join at this late stage by post ...

Not sure, my paperwork did take a couple of days to come through....

I also bought a helment yesterday, a very reasonable £45, been meaning to do it for a while as rental is not nice at some tracks....

I emailed RossTech today about vagcom and adjusting lights, I had the following response which I thought I would share, I will bring my laptop and if I get it cracked will let you know... The one thing I forgot to mention in my original email is that I have adaptive xenons, I have asked them if this makes a difference and post up any reply

I stand corrected. I have been informed by Uwe that there is a "Tourist
Solution" that makes RHD cars less obnoxious to oncoming traffic when
traffic flows on the opposite side of the road. Check in Address 55:
Xenon Range and go into Adaptation. Channel 10 should have a stored
value of 0, which is your normal setting. Save a new value of 1 to alter
the beam angle. You should check this against a wall with some tape
before going to Germany, to make sure it has the desired effect. Store
a new value of 0 to put your settings back to stock.

This is documented in the label file for your headlamps:

A010,6,When driving in countries where driving is performed on the
A010,7,opposite side as in the native country the headlights must
A010,8,be changed over to avoid blinding the oncoming traffic.

ADAC is still good for the 'Ring. Last weekend I was PAX in a car that lost it's front offside tyre whilst going around Ice Kurve. Quite an exciting moment. Fortunatley DC managed to tidy it up well.

ADAC turned up within 20 mins and was a 'free' rescue.

Best way to join is by telephone. You will become a member on the spot. Paperwork and your card will be sent out by post. One form needs to be completed & signed with your credit card details and sent back to ADAC.

The AA wanted £99 for my annual UK renewal PLUS £50 for a 4 day EU trip! They're having a laugh.

The ADAC UK partner is the AA btw....

OK...Insurance.

All those who expressed an interest in track day insurance for the 3 day I need your full names, value insured & reg number by PM.

It is on the basis of 1.5% premium, 10 % excess with a maximum payout of the amount insured - excess. This is being covered by some of the guys who are coming with us to Germany who work in the insurance industry. There is no 3rd party liability in this policy.

Dear all,

I know we are all looking forward to this trip, those who have been before know what’s in store and will be itching to get lapping. For those new to it, well, the circuit will blow your mind I think and the atmosphere will make you want to stay there for ever !!!

Can I just ask everyone to bear a few things in mind please ?

* The ring is narrow, bumpy, long (13.5 miles) and takes 50 laps to learn.

* It is very slippery when wet !

* There is no run off.

* It is not marshalled (in the traditional marshals post & flag sense, there are some car / bike marshals) and there is no light system so you may come across cars or bikes crashed in the road over the brow of a hill or spilled fluids etc,.

* It is a public road and is therefore subject to German traffic laws, so do not overtake on the right and keep to the right whilst being overtaken.

* Lap timing is, generally speaking, asking for trouble.

* There are many accidents, some serious, some fatal.

For new folks, passenger laps before you venture out are highly recommended, as are experienced passengers when you do.

Please take great care. A successful lap is one where you come off without incident. Try to do your laps at quiet times – beginning/end of day & on Monday. If you feel uncomfortable, slow down, stop lapping, whatever.

Insurance is now closed. Those people who have contacted me will be covered, you should bring a cheque book with you so that you can pay over the weekend for your cover....
