Damian, notice I said lap, not laps :) I'm referring to the lap I had with Lucas. Nothing personal against him, he drove exceptionally well and the car is just awesome but the thought of something going wrong at those speeds and me with my good helmet safely stowed in the boot of my own car ... not smart really.

There are speed limits at both entries and exits. Anteniusbuche (Grune Holle/Long start-finish straight) and Ex Muhle/Breidscheid/Adenau Bridge (Second entrance next to the Hotel an der Nordschleife).

There are marshalls, generally on bikes.

My rule for helmets is, "If I want to passenger with someone I don't trust or who is wearing a helmet, then I'll wear one. Otherwise (stupidly), I don't".

Yes, and some in cars too but not to be confused with a trackday with all marshalls posts occupied with flag marshalls & a circuit lighting system as a trackday would have. You are on your own when you lap unless a marshall or other driver stops to flag an incident locally and it is 13.5 miles around too!

Likewise, i'll have mine with me, but i don't wear it when i'm driving The Ring as i'd find it intrusive for such long periods & find the whole experience less dangerous that regular track days (rightly or wrongly), however as per Phil, if i'm passengering i'll tend to wear a lid if i don't know the driver or their style of if they're wearing a lid.

As an aside, passengers in the Ring Taxi are not required to wear a lid & they are going at full chat.

May also be worth taking ones lid as it will be required for the go-karting & the thought of breathing in someone elses breath from the track lids aint a pleasant one.

On Tour is just that & of course antics (whatever they may be) will stay on tour, however for any off's (not too serious), tank slappers or general scary/funny tales, one should expect a right verbal ripping from other members of the party, as that's a big part of the fun.

The one golden rule & it's been broken on here recently is that any major moments or accidents DO NOT get posted about or photographed unless the victim states it's OK. It's not our place to screw up anyones finances by posting about incidents & thus causing pain during a possible insurance claim. This sort of thing defo stays on tour.

Jason, you've nothing to worry about. More than happy to passenger/take you out, so just let me know. Most of all, just have fun & live the experience as it really is all that & a petrolheads paradise. 8)

David, Sorry, I was with Lucas on the MRC test lap and I was looking for the exit and was ready to walk back!

Umm a man on a mission. Good driver and bad passengers don't mix.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Looking forward to it. Not so your choice of helmet, me thinks my simple white helmet may clash somewhat, although as we won't be gunning it i'll probably leave mine in the boot.

As an aide, most if not all the corners have entry & apex markers, which although not exact according to instructors i've been out with, are a good reference point & most are very close to being in exactly the right spots, so help greatly.

You would be better off buying a full face helmet so that you could use it for Karts, Open top cars etc....unless you have enough dosh to buy both !

I have heard you need to book it a year in advance :? only chance you might get is if it is wet and someone decides not to go out....
