Bruntingthorpe Asda Charity Event
Bruntingthorpe Asda Charity Event
I am heading to this with the Rally For Heroes Group but figured it might be worth a look for you guys as it's a great day and you get to go out for a blast with passengers for a minimum cost. All proceeds going to charity.

Re: Bruntingthorpe Asda Charity Event
I went last year with IanH, had a great time! Make sure you get some go-pro footage of the passengers
Be careful not to spend too much time behind other cars because you'll get peppered with stone chips on the long straight.

Re: Bruntingthorpe Asda Charity Event
Si you aren't the bloke who did the Asda day are you? Are there going to be many people going from here?
Re: Bruntingthorpe Asda Charity Event
Yep, did it last yeah with Ian, both of us with daytona c5 avants.
The only RS246 members will be Noyjatat and anyone that joins him, it's run for asda employees only, and various car clubs are invited along. Rally for hero's were the club we went with last time as they didn't have enough cars. Good bunch of guys.
It's a bit hard on the brakes so don't do more than 3 laps at a time. You're braking from 140-150mph and coming in to pick up another passenger. I did 5 back to back and nearly set the brakes on fire! apparently it looked like I had smoke grenades under the wheel arches lol. I had to go back out for a cool down lap quick!

Ah okay bud, yeah I'll be up for going, hopefully mine will be all sorted before then. Any essentials I need to bring?
Re: Bruntingthorpe Asda Charity Event
Had an awesome day doing passenger rides at Bruntingthorpe as part of the "On Your Marks" charity event!
The car suspension is now falling apart, I got ran off the track by a Porsche Cayenne and collected a cone to the rear passenger door and I've now got a thumbnail sized stone chip in my windscreen but I had an absolute blast!
I think I may have buggered the car quite badly though.
1. I think the rear diff is shot as you get a very low frequency rapid thumping from the rear when you boot it.
2. The steering rack or suspension is making a mechanical knocking sound which can be felt through the wheel and gets louder with a left turn and quieter on a right but past 30' of turn in either direction it's silent.
3. The rear left brake stone guard came loose and is resting on the disc making a lovely grinding noise.
4. The brakes all round got so hot 3 tyres have lost all or some of the balance weights as the glue failed so the wheels are vibrating.
5. The stone Chip!
6. The cone mark on the left rear passenger door (which has already been polished out) has left a very small scratch.
7. The stupid intake manifold pipe popped off twice and requires a proper solution.
However, the positives were
1. The AP Racing Discs/DS2500/ATE SuperBlue combo was amazing, 50+ 170mph to 50mph stops without a single fade. the DS2500's smoke a bit for the first 3-4 stops but settled down afterwards.
2. The engine is perfect and surprised soooo many people.
3. I'm now watching back all the passenger reactions and seeing shocked faces and things that I miss during the drive.
After a bit of MRC TLC I may consider another one next year

Re: Bruntingthorpe Asda Charity Event
Fixed my horrific sounding rear brakes, this tiny 1cm mark was rubbing on the edge of the disc. I also found my centre propshaft bearing has died
and the knocking was a loose left front wheel which had been checked at lunch
something to check more closely next trackday!
My passenger reaction vid will be up this week sometime.
