Power to weight wise they are similar in standard form (380 vs 450) and both are quick. A remapped B5 is a transformation over standard car and it's well worth having one remapped. It all depends if you want a smaller more chuckable casr or a V8 monster with more room inside.

Bear in mind the tiptronic auto box vs a 6 speed manual too (there is something so nice about having 400+bhp and a manual box).

I'd say drive both and make your own mind up but for me the 4 edges it all the time.

Personally speaking, I can't get excited about anything, no matter how quick, that doesn't have enough pedals.

I like to drive my cars, not be driven

yep like said, it's gotta be a manual, RS4 all the way.

Agreed, RS4 B5 all day long.
Out of all the RS's I've had, the B5 is the only one I'd ever buy again.
Less outlay, less to run, quicker, and a lot more fun !

Post this on the C5 forum and you will get very differing responses.

you'll alaways get bias...its only people who have driven both, or have moved on, that can take the bias away

golfather opinion is qualified having owned both

as much as i love the RS 6, having moved away to a more nimble car, I now see the true lardyness of it...amazing muscle power, but I imagine the B5 is so much more nimble, and in modified form, just as fast

but the V8....oh the V8...
