It's a trait of the RS engine mate, it is common for the engine to hold on to the revs which makes driving it fast and smooth very hard indeed.
In fact when Plato drove the car on Driven his only real criticism of it was the engine and it holding on to the revs for so long. I find mine the same but you can do get used to it.
