Standard Suspension Tired

Hi all,

Over the last few months my ride has become bouncy, harsh and ‘crashy’ when on anything but a perfect road. So I’m guessing it’s time to sort out the tired suspension (Y-reg on 80k).

I’m looking to replace with OEM as the car spends most of its life on bumpy country lanes and speed humps in London :( so couldn’t take anything lower or harder in ride. Plus I’ve read some reports on here from people who have replaced old OEM with new OEM springs/shocks/bushes and they report good things (‘like driving a different car’!)

One of the many threads on here says new OEM shocks and springs all round should be around the £750 mark for parts.

I’m also thinking, while at it, it makes good sense to do all the bushes (yes, many of them I know!). But I know at least some need doing (‘rear wishbone bushes worn’ came back on my last service report). Again courtesy of another thread thread I’m thinking about £250 for a full set of OEMs.

So, questions:

1) all in I’m guessing about £1000+labour. Does that sound realistic?
2) are there any other option people would recommend instead of OEM (bearing in mind I don’t want a ride height drop or anything harder)
3) Any chance of getting any of this under warranty?! Or anybody had any luck doing so?! (Direct/Wise, can’t remember which I have)

Cheers!

Might try mine on WD and see as mine is a little tired too.

I have new OEM shockers and spings on mine with full poly bushes and HR anti roll bars and I am very happy with the ride quality and handling. Labour cost me £250 ish for fitting all of the above but was done at mates rated but I suspect he would normally have charged £400. It does take a long time to get the old bushes out.

Don't want to piss on your parade fellas, but shocks and springs are likely to be considered 'consumable' items, as are clutches and brake discs\pads.
Remember the warranty is for and I quote 'sudden failures', which could be attributable to a 'wear and tear' item.

Quite frankly you will find a stack of low useage OEM ones at Kim Collins or another tuner, for a fraction of the cost well worth ringing them could save you a packet
