I've heard B&Q BBQ Paint works well as it's a very hard paint? Maybe PlastiKote too, as it's like an enamel?
Probably doing this myself too.
how about this?

Ive done the 4 rings and the sliver grill surround, so it matches the black mirrors and black roof rails now
I used U-POL Etch Primer, then a couple of coats of Plasti-kote Super Enamel Matt Black with a few coats of Plasti-kote Super Enamel Satin Clear Acrylic to top it.

Does it need the primer first?
Would also be interested in seeing how it looks...

I only used it on advice of others on here. I lightly sanded the rings first to give it a 'key' to bond to, then lightly sanded the primer as well.
If you use the Plasti-Kote stuff, follow the instructions to the letter as I wasted a lot of product by not re-applying subsequent coats within the indicated times.
I'll get a pic posted up tomorrow if it stops raining.

Ta - used the Plastikote stuff on my rear calipers, which came out well, but obviously they're not going to be seen as much as the 4 rings, so am interested in the finish...
Obviously you're happy with them?

No need to faff about with special paints.
Rub the rings down, bit of Halfords primer and Satin black paint. Job done.
See above

Have they chipped since you've painted them?
