Help - Advise required re potential RS4 purchase

Post by Imax » Thu Jul 23, 2009 11:52 pm

Hi,

Ive seen a 2000 RS4 that i'm thinking of buying from a well known RS4 specialist but have a concern... The advert states that it has full leather interior and so do the photos. I also phoned Audi and they confirm it was supplied with full leather.
When I phoned the seller to discuss I was told that it has the hitech cloth seats!!
For some reason this is really bugging me... I have questioned whether the interior has been swapped and been told it hasn't - Something not adding up.
What are your thoughts on this?
I haven't seen the car in the metal yet but have dealt with the guy before as I sold him an RS4 I had a couple of years back which I should never have sold.

Thanks

If it's Nick Johnson, he has been known to swap interiors

Exactly what mikeyquattro said.
I don't see a problem with it unless you specifically want full leather.
I've swapped my interior

Here's a simple way to get the facts:

There is a sticker under the boot carpet which should be identical to a sticker on the inside front cover of the service book. These stickers show what options were fitted to the car, expressed as a series of 3 letter codes. You can decode them here http://igorweb.org/equidec/

I recently bought a 1999 A4 Quattro which had the Recaro interior and for some reason I wanted to make sure it was factory fitted - with hindsight it's irrational but I sympathise.

If you want to pm me I can help you decode as I have a pic of the data sticker on my old hi-tec car and I have a full leather RS4 now with data sticker.
Having said that I've never know Audi UK spec confirmation be incorrect as this can't be loused up by a dizzy admin employee at the main dealership (unlike most things on the logbook!)

I can help you decode it as I've been to Bletchley park and got a degree in cybernetics.

My car has a swapped interior.

Nick Johnson swapped it at the request of the previous owner when he bought it a year ago. Swapped out Black leather for the Hi- Tech that's now there.

It wouldnt bother me if the interior had been swapped unless your not keen on the hitech,if your not ask him to swap it back to leather,i guess it depends on which rs4s he owns and which are on a sale or return basis

It would bother me if I had been lied to.

Thanks for all your comments on this. I have spoken to the seller today who has agreed to swap the interior to leather which I think I prefer from a future financial aspect and it also returns it to its original spec.
Also asked my local Audi dealer for a print out of the vehilce spec and this confirms it was supplied with the Valcona Leather.
