Super Sprint Exhausts

Post by superfly » Sat Nov 01, 2008 7:19 pm

After doing some extensive research on this forum i have come to the conclusion that it is a better investment to purchase the Super Sprint exhaust for my car. I originally wanted to buy the Milltek version as i have used this exhaust on previous cars i have had but alot of people are putting out negative vibes when applying it to the RS4. Could anybody advise me where i could get a good deal on the Super Sprint system.

In addition if anybody would like to forward any alternative systems that i could consider i would be grateful.

In previous posts it has been suggested that a cat back Super Sprint system can be sourced for around the £700 mark. If the best price is going to be a grand would i not be better off with the Milltek system which i can have delivered for £710. Its not that i am being tight with the purchase of an exhaust but a cambelt change is imminant and the clutch could soon be a must have.

A custom exhaust is another route to follow and i have a friend who could make me a stainless exhaust locally but i fear that there is no specific development or testing or proven figures for the exhaust system.

The Super Sprint isn't a true dual system all the way through, so I would imagine is more restrictive than the Milltek dual. Having said that, it would appear from what members say on here that the Super Sprint doesn't drone as much as the Milltek (which I have) and that may be an important factor when considering a system.

[quote="Jarv"]The Super Sprint isnWhen you say drone to what extent and at what revs. Did you buy the resonated or non resonated version and do you feel that it has hindered your ride height at all.

I have the Milltek catless DP's as well, so that doesn't help, but the drone is there around 2k. It's not a problem for me, but I'm not going to flower it up and say it isn't there. And yes, the downside of the dual is that the ground clearance is reduced. I live in fear of those speed bump island things, they have to be negotiated carefully.

BUT, at full chat it's an awesome noise.

I have a big problem when it comes to loosing ground clearance as i live in Telford which has the worlds most consentrated number of speed bumps to be found in one town.

You'll won't get a supersprint for £700, it will always be a pricer option than the Milltek but you should get one for under £900 if you shop around and haggle. They are worth the extra, there no issues with resonance/drone, fit, build and it doesn't extend when hot as there braced with triangular plates.

Tried Supersprint on the RS4 and it's way too restrictive. At 520 crank, the cars are leaving 20 to 30 BHP on the table just because of that. Not good in my books, and I've tried loads of different systems.
