Short Shifter Question:Do we have 'old' style or 'new' style

Post by surfpilot » Mon Oct 13, 2008 2:10 pm

I'm thinking of buying a short shift kit for my RS4(B5), I want to know which one fits, the 'old' style or 'new' style kit.

here's the link:

You don't have to buy it there.

This is the new site:

From my previous experience (i've already bought a few sets for the RS4), the right one is the LATE STYLE:
http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal ... ducts_id=3
- 2 additional reverse springs are included (stiffer springs)
- ask for the 1" height reduction, it will feel much better than stock.
- if you have the money, order also a weighted shift knob:
DELRIN: http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal ... cts_id=144
ALUMINIUM: http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal ... cts_id=143
This will reduce the shifter notchyness - you will like it ;)

Hope this helps

They're not comparable at all.
Go with the JHM one. Trust me.

Yes, Jason usually do it when purchasing more sets.

Unfortunately, you will have to pay all the duties at the UK custom...because he ships only declaring the correct value of the item.

You will love it

you get 2 styles of shifter with the rs4 as you have 2 types of linkage arms.

Just pull-up the shifter cover and have a look in there ;)
