I don't think there's a huge difference between dealer price and external for the kit itself, however, I was nearly £1400 a couple of months ago to get them to do the whole job. The book time at the dealers is approx 12 hours for the job.

I can do the 3 piece kit; clutch pressure plate, clutch centre plate, and release bearing, all Original Audi bits for £250 as an outright purchase, which means you don't have to send the old parts back, or £215, which will mean you'll have to send the old pressure, centre plate, as there is a surcharge on these.

Supply & fit!?! I'm stunned. MRC did mine a couple of months back, if I remember correctly, it was a good 7 or 8 hour job dropping the gearbox to get to it, replacing the parts and putting it all back together.

I paid 1700 for clutch and flywheel and that was an independent audi specialist.

Are we suggesting £811.56 is a reasonable price then??

Yes, seeing as the flywheel is only an hour to fit during the process.

audi dealers charge roughly 100 notes an hour labour and as has been said already it's about 10-12 hours labour, so the labour costs alone should be 800 notes and then the part on top 250 ish. I wouldn't expect anything under 1200 fron a dealer.

Agree with Contigo. My local dealer charges around £150 plus vat per hour. Add the fact that dealers usuallly allow 50% more hours to do a job like a clutch change than an independant specialist, and I think you'll find £811.56 to be exceptionally reasonable, for an Audi dealer. I'd double check that includes the parts and they aren't confusing a clutch change with an oil change.

I'm reluctant to say how much MRC charged me as I don't have the info to hand. Why not drop them an email.

I was recently quoted almost £2k by my local stealer (Exeter Audi), they claimed it was 14hrs labour.

Had the job done at Mrc instead. They managed it in 8 hours.

In my case the charge was in the 800 region, but obviously can vary from one car to another.

Mike.
