rs4 dials reading fast

Post by scottmandu » Sat Aug 23, 2008 3:55 am

I've got a B5 S4 with an RS4 cluster whos speedo reads about 100 percent fast (doing 20 it reads 40) anybody had similar issues? Does somone have the proper coding that this cluster should be coded to?
I've heard of somone else having this issue but am unable to find the post.

Thank you!

i have had this issue on one car - but others have been fine.

I would be interested to hear how this is fixed.

Were you able to fix it? I've seen a few other posts but have not found any answers.

Aren't the wheels/tyres much bigger on the RS4 so the calibration with a standard S4 with smaller wheel/tyre combo would put the speedo way out...?

The S4 wheel would need to be half the rolling radius of the RS4 wheel to make this the case!

May be talking out of my ar$e here...but is the speed picked up from the ABS sensor system and maybe there are different abs rings - one with twice as many slots?

Shall I get my coat now?

No, the speed sensor is on the gearbox. And the ABS rings are the same.

i think i worked it out that the dials had another mph to kph conversion - the ecu measures the correct speed in kph but the dials show the car going too fast. All the coding was ok - and it was on just one car with the rs4 dials in a d box s4.
