OMG that was on PH in March of this year undamaged!
And the mileage was definitely not 43000 then, it was 80k ish.

Here a link to the thread where I mentioned it, alas PH link is dead but you can work out from thread it was on 80k then.

I suppose clocking salvage is an easy was of making money and you have a better excuse for not having history.

Can you ask the seller some questions about history/mileage and report back?

I was looking at this too. I did a cheapy HPI check (as the good ones wont work from outside the UK) and it said the car:

6 Owners (!)
Reg Plate changed (not really an issue as lots of UK cars I look at seem to have reg plates changed from time to time)
Colour Change registered (!?)

6 owners and 43k odd miles is suspicious. Also, the seller is just a salvage dealer, he said insurance paid out nearly £20k to the driver on account of the good condition of the car inside and out and the low mileage. I got interior pics from him too, looks fine but more creases in the seat than I would expect from 43k. The mileage on the Dash does say the same 43k number. Any chance the potiential scam was done by the last driver to get a bigger insurance payout but lowering mileage to inflate the market value?

EDIT: Seller has put up the interior photos on eBay now, at least he is proactive!

Seller doesnt seem bothered about this mileage thing, says he bought it that way from the insurance company...

i have done some research on the car. first of all with vosa, it currently has two mots running one with 43k the other with 96k, one was done in march 07 the other in april 07. also previous mot in 06 was done at 95k then the mot for the following year 07 was done at 96k, so one reckons they done 1k in one year, i dont think so!

also chased up the history last serviced at audi sutton coldfield at 96k on september 2006.
so who know the correct mileage!
it has had a few plate changes.

all the above info is correct as i used the vin number. audi customer services are quite helpfull!

i was also interested.

He relisted it, "Relisted due to ebay having a problem with some of the text in the ad"..

He also previously said the roof was perfect, but now says:

"centre post has gone in a little bit, with a tiny dent on the roof, the floor is intact"

What's everyone's opinion on the price? Is £9k fair for it?

Cheers,
Bryn.

I considered 9 ish if it had 43k miles on it. At a possible 150k miles, crashed, roof damaged (which means B pillar knocked in pretty far) etc, I dont think so.
