Single Mass Flywheel

Hi Everyone,
A few people on this board have mentioned that while my gearbox is out being rebuilt I should have the flywheel checked before putting a new clutch in and I should consider a single mass flywheel, is this sensible? if the OEM fly wheel looks ok should I stick with it? in everyones experience how much does an OEM one cost and how much do the single mass ones cost?
Cheers in advance
Andy

I've just taken delivery of my SM flywheel, custom made for my S8 4,2L V8 motor, that's going into my B5 Af quattro Sport.
Weight is 7,2 kilos, as compared to the OEM 13,5 kilos.
Cost me £220 inclusive.
OEM DM is bloody heavy, and very expensive.

I would install (and just did couple days ago) a light weight flywheel. Fidanza is quite cheap, and it is good.

You obviously didn't read -

Siena got it custom made by a firm in the UK. Have you tried PM'ing him?
This particular one wouldn't work on the V6 because it's got 10 holes, not 8. Although they did f**k it up the first time and made him one with 8 holes, so he may be able to get hold of that for you.

Hi, sorry I didn't read your requests till today.
As BT said, it's for an S8 / B5 marriage.
A local firm made it up for me.
I didn't go for the 034 item, as it's aluminium, which I'm not too keen on.
Let me know, if you need one for an S4.

Yes, the car revs easier. But I let the owner tell more

It was my car that Okkim installed Fidanza + Clutchmasters Stage 4 clutch kit.
I can say that it revs up a lot easier than with oem flywheel. Revs drop faster as well.
Lighter flywheel doesn´t affect negatively in daily driving at any circumstances.
Car feels a lot more fun now, it´s way more crisp.
I give my blessing.
