new owner servicing query

Post by jay1974 » Fri Feb 29, 2008 2:44 pm

hi all, just bought my first audi car never mind being an rs4 and i love it but my wee query is that the car has done 72000 miles and is on a longlife service with audi, now looking back through previous services it has roughly been done every 12k miles, its last service was done at 71950 miles, now when i have pressed the service indicator button it is saying next service due in 3000miles!how can this be?does it just mean an oil change is due then, the main reason for choosing this car was because it had FASH and had been serviced just 50miles ago.please any advice would be welcome thanks jay

They probably forgot to reset the service indicator. From memory these cars can do up to 18k miles between services on variable, so if yours was serviced every 12k, then it could easily still be showing 3k to go.

No, just check with the dealer that serviced it that they actually did do the service, then ask your local friendly dealer (or someone with Vag-com) to reset it for you.

the system works on time aswell as miles, if the service was carried out then the car parked up, the service would become due.... mine has sat alot but tells me it needs a service within 1500 miles and it has covered less than 1000 miles since its last service in March 07. Once you drive the car, it will adjust the timescale according to your driving. Mine went up to 9000 miles within a week of driving it regularly again.

cambelt was done at 65000miles,if it adjusts itself thats fine, because the car has only done 400miles since october, which was when it was last serviced, having looked through the servicing records it has been serviced 3 times in the last 3years and its only done 9000miles,thanks for the replys jay
