New wheels!

Post by Virdee Autos » Sat Sep 15, 2007 6:47 pm

After much fighting with Audi re; the buckled wheels, I got nowhere due to them being out of warranty ever so slightly!

I had my heart set on some LM's, but due to the price, and more importantly lack of availability meant I had to bin this idea, and think ahead. I've always liked the B7 wheels, but wanted to take them one step further. I had this ide already visualised in my head! As you will see got the faces diamond cut, with the inserts painted in Anthracite. Come out and suit it well IMHO.

Also took advantage of today, to try out my detailing skills which I have been practising, and I think I haven't made a bad attempt of it!

All comments welcome!

Yeah, looking good. Think you may have polished the bit above the rear plate a bit too much though  .

How do you find the B7 wheels affect the handling, if at all? Are they heavier than the standard B5 18's?

Looks great. Good luck with keeping the diamond cut finish looking good. Is there laquer over the diamond cut finish?

LOL....thanks guys for all the comments.

Jarv - They are slightly harsher than the stock wheels, although only over manhole covers, and poorly surfaced roads. Even then its nothing crazy. The comments I read on here were making me think twice, as people were saying the ride is unbearable, or very hard. I find it very compliant. Then again I also have a Skyline GTR-34, with 19's and high rate springs, so I'm used to it! But with a straight comparison to the stock 18's, I find it to be excellent with 30 profile tyres. To say i'm impressed is an understatement!

I maybe switching to the Bilstein PSS9 setup soon, but the ride is so good with the stock suspension, i'm still undecided. But people with PSS9 say theres hardly any noticeable difference in the ride quality

Unfortunately didn't get to weigh them against the stock wheels.

GrahamS4 - Yes they are lacquered. I will be cleaning and polishing them regularly!

Also have done the Pentagon Light Smoke tints, along with Supaglass. And polished rear number plate plinth (had enough of the rust!), and Supersprint exhaust.

I could not have mine that sprakly as it's used as a workhorse and little un is climbing all over it.

I like the light tints. I've considered that for mine. Do you mind me asking how much that cost? I note that the Pentagon website doesn't give prices. PM me if you'd prefer.

B7 wheels look nice on B5. I wanted to get em on mine too, but then i found these Rial Daytonas with rubber for 1500€. That´s cheap.
