s4/rs4 manifolds

Post by Ryan_s3 » Tue Jan 02, 2007 8:21 pm

Are s4 and rs4 exhaust manifolds the same?

Q for mrc/minhea, can the tubular manifold you sell fit the rs4 and can it be made with different flanges for fitment with other makes of turbo,ie t25/ihi etc?
thanks.

Though not 100% about the other make turbo's because theymay need to be located differently.

The S4 and RS4 share the same manifold though for K03's and K04's

not too sure how much space the turbos have on rs4's but at least i know about the manifolds.

While I don't know for certain. I was always under the impression the RS4 manifold was slightly different as the heads are different and the RS4 doesn't suffer from the old heat sheild issue that the older S4s could.

But like I said I've no real knowledge on this only my impression.

The part numbers are the same in ETKA. I have S4 and RS4 exhaust
manifolds and I can confirm they are the same. The inlet ports are different
on the RS4 - the exhaust ports are the same.

Yes that's what it is - I thought the ports were supposed to be different from an Audiworld post from a few years back. That's good to know that an S4 is the same for the exhaust.

So I wonder if the heat shields modified around 2000? As I've never heard of an RS suffering the expensive S4 heat shield issue.

It was the facelift S4 that had revised manifolds that are then fitted to the RS4 later. The heat shields on the exhaust do still rattle on the later cars but isn't expensive to fix. The RS4 exhaust is different to the S4
