Guys, i want to get a Tow Bar for the RS4, ideally i want a removable one that doesn't require modification to the bumper, does anyone have one fitted to their car? If so, do you have any pics of it?

I would like to know which is best to use, is there an Audi OE one?

I havn't even begun to look in Ireland yet as i thought i would ask you guys for the best one to use, not really much info on the cars or even parts over here.

try Murrays on the Saintfield Road in Carryduff,(Belfast) they ship all over Ireland and are Brink and tailor made agents........ from memory, Brink are the only ones which do the detachable version......... am sure somebody else knows more than me......

Westfalia are the genuine ones. Do a search on the web. Got one for my S4 avant and it's perfect. There is even the right cut out in the original spare wheel liner to stow the bar piece when not in use. The wiring is a real pain though due too bulb detection and all the other gubbins. It does come with special adapters so no cutting wring though.

i have looked and there is no listing for the RS4 Avant, it says the manufacturer doesn't recommend towing in these cars??? Does anyone have a Tow Bar fitted to their RS4?? If so, was it necessary to cut the bumper to get it to fit??? Also is it removable??

Had the same problem recently and eventually gave up. There are RS4's out there with towbars and there are at least 2 different sorts that I could fine info. on. The Westfalia one is definitely the best but I couldn't get one, even after following the advice I found on previous threads. Do a search and see for yourself. Its been pretty extensively covered before. Hope you have more luck than me.

No one lists a towbar for the RS4 but it will take the same one as any A4 Quattro Avant apparently. Sometimes there needs to be an invisible modification to the rear bumper underside but you will find different stories.

From what I remember, Audi have a serious problem with Towbars fitted to RS4s - and in fact I believe that they resfused to honour any warrantee issues if a Towbar was fiited. I don't know why. Maybe this has something to do with the lack of availability?

To legally fit a towbar to a car in this country the manufacturer has to have it tested and certified. This costs money and for small number production cars or cars which are clearly never going to have towbars fitted manufacturers don't go through this process. Due to the small number of right hand drive RS4's brought in Audi didn't bother- hence no certificate and no listing for towbars. It was done for mainland Europe so there is no problem with having one fitted and many people have them and use them successfully but whenever you try to sort it out in this country you always come up against this problem. I think the best way is to import a Westfalia one from Germany and have a specialist fit it here. That's what I may still do eventually but I got fed up with the messing around in the end

some where on site here is a scanned copy of p/work from Audi themselves saying that it is ok to fit the S4 detachable one.

When I was looking to buy an RS4 at dealers over three years ago one of the ones I didn't buy would have included the Audi detachable towbar. Although the car was RHD it was a personal import; don't know if this sheds any more light.

Westfalia detachable is very neat and tidy, totally invisible once removed. Unless you are looking at the car from frog's angle. Some pics and details in my gallery.
