A question from one third (and possibly one half) of the B5 RS4 owners in Western Australia .

Can anyone confirm if the above is the correct Audi part number for the Bank 2 EGT sensor ie passenger side on RHD vehicle (I sourced the number from an Audiworld thread).

I am getting the 17866 DTC from VAG COM and car is limiting boost to ~1600mb (7psi or so). I am aware it is a mongrel to replace from reading here and elsewhere but fortunately have extended warranty to cover this. Since these cars are a rare sight here for workshops / dealers I want to make sure the right part is ordered and available before I hand the car over.

I can clear the code but it comes back as soon as the car warms up and I can see the temp bouncing around all over the place in the logs so I am pretty confident this is the culprit.

Car is stock, 2001 Avus Silver.

Cheers

I replaced both on my 2000 RS4

The No.s on the receipt are:

078 919 529F EGT Sensor (320) - Steel
078 919 529G EGT Probe (200) - Aluminium

As one cable is longer than the other. I'm guess the 200/300 is the cable length. The passenger side is definitely the longer of the two. (Refernce to RHD cars) So given the above, and your post. I'd say that is the "F" code is the correct one. Incidently, this is the most difficult one to get too. But if its a dealer and warranty who cares!

Cheers. I have asked for the longer cabled one - I have been quoted 'D' and 'F'. Will report when done and working (due in a week or so - there is apparently only one part in the country)

Part supplied and fitted had 'D' suffix, longer cable. Boost limiting gone, fault code gone, car alive and well.
