I´m on the market for a RS4. Yesterday I test drove a stock 2000 RS4 with 44000Km. What surprised me most, was the rattles from all four doors. I was hopping the build quality to be much better, but that particular car was rattling all the time from the front doors and from the rear lugadge compartment. Clutch pedal was also heavy to operate. Interiors and exterior was in very good shape, but the inside ratlles left me desapointed with this first test. Did I have some bad luck with this specific RS4 , or does an RS4 rattles like an italian car?

Car didn´t had the 40.000Km done, so it will have to go directly to the shop to do the cam belt service. How much should I expect from a 40.000Km service regardng costs?
How much is the price a a set of four original RS4 wheels? Thanks in advance

Mine hardly rattles...I suggest taking another one out...

Creaks perhaps, but not rattles. Silicone on door rubbers makes a big difference.

40K and cam belt change +- £1000

I get a few creaks when the car is cold, when warmer the plastics soften a bit and then the noises stop. They are only few and far between though, nothing bad at all.

Wheels probably cost £400 each from the dealer.

One or two creaks from mine, but defo no rattles - 80000 miles.

I thought the same on a few I test drove. The one I own now is ok, there sometimes seems to be a bit of commotion from the parcel shelf if its not sitting properly.
As for the clutch, they are heavish all 4 I test drove seemed to be tougher then a normal car and stiffer then my old S4, but you do get used to it.

The clutch is heavy indeed and not pleasant to operate but as you said you really get use to it.
Can the rattles issue be related to year build??? This car is from 2000, maybe cars from 2001 were some how more tight.

The owner didn´t know about the bent wheels issue, he than told me that he had already repaired the wheels twice, but after some time they would bent again. When I drove the car i could felt some shake from the steering, so it´s obvious the wheels are bent. My problem is that if i repair the wheels they will bent in no time again, and a new set of four here costs exactly 3000 euros ( called delear 5 min ago)

I would probably steer clear if your that unhappy, IMO there seemed to be no difference between the 2000 & 2001 models when I test drove them. Mines a 2000 and seems fine but it is a lowish milage sample so it may be something to do with that. As for the wheels, the warranty still stands according Audi UK if you have the soft wheels they will replace them but only with the tougher version.

Creaky leather seats in the back but definitely no rattles from doors. If wheels are bent I guess this isn't going to help. As has been said before, if you're not happy, find another one.

Mine was squealing like mad.

So I asked her to get out and all's well now.

Expect creaks, but have to say the clutch ain't heavy...

..no rattles on my car.. though rear parcel shelf rattles sometimes when it's pulled out and the left seat if someone has incorrectly adjusted it midway between clicks.

Sorry, have to disagree on "the clutch aint heavy", I jump from my RS4 to my wife's focus on a regular basis and there is a quiet a difference.

Your wifes Focus has 440 Nm of torque as well then?

Clutch is not too heavy IMO, considering the torque it handles. A lot easier than in the RS2 for example. But they do tend to get heavier near the end. But to verify that, you'd need to compare with another RS4.

Doors creak from sealings if they are too dry, silicone is they key as mentioned before.
