noise front suspension

Post by genova » Mon Jun 06, 2005 7:33 pm

Hello, my RS4 (Quattro Gmbh Sport suspension, APRacing brakes) makes some strange slapping (hope word is right) noise on front axle. Had it checked by AMAG (Audi specialist in Switzerland). Reponse; noise is not clear enough, have to wait until increases to find out from where it comes ?! I suspect some steering issues. Does anyone had experience (RS4 illness). Some cars have recognised weaknesses. Thanks for feedback.

Wheel bearings? Does it make more noise when turning?

If not then one of the wishbones, C links or track rod ends. Is it a suspension knock when going over bumps at medium to low speed? I encounter a new knock about every 6 months. The best thing to do is to change the whole front suspension set (about £600 from Audi)...or £320 from VAGParts.

That's a bit extreme for an undiagnosed prob. It can't be that severe yet! Its a lot of work to change out everything!
