SOFT WHEELS & DEALER NONSENSE
Hmm i could be wrong about mine it looks like its on soft wheels still, can i still opt for a hard set?ive got one thats had a meeting with a kerb (thanks wifey) will this affect them changing the set?im really tempted as ive been looking for ages for another wheel and this would solve my problem nicely.i hope i dont get the runaround from the dealer like some of you guys are!
SOFT WHEELS
The dealer refused to change mine ( i have soft wheels) as they said they had been refurbed sometime in there life?? I know it sounds like a load of B****ks!! Will try another dealer..
RE: SOFT WHEELS
What just painted or more reconstructive work to damaged rims?dhali wrote:The dealer refused to change mine ( i have soft wheels) as they said they had been refurbed sometime in there life?? I know it sounds like a load of B****ks!! Will try another dealer..
soft wheels.
well the outer edge of the rim looks all uniform ( so looks like no grinding down??) But there are places on the rim where the paint is begining to lift.
RE: soft wheels.
I have that on my genuine rims!! Like a stone has hit the rim, and the paint is bubbling? But there are places on the rim where the paint is begining to lift.

soft wheels
on my wheels you can see the "paint underneath" where its beginging to lift.
RE: soft wheels
dhali try another dealer ive just had two changed one was mint the other was lightly kerbed, its not the outer that buckles its the inner so cosmetic refurb shouldnt matter, maybe i was lucky?or maybe they monitor how many each cars had and that went in my favour god knows!
Result at last!!! An absurd long process on an accepted design decision [note Audi lawyers i didnt say 'flaw']. I now have 4 new 'hard' wheels.
Zero marks to Cardiff Audi for suggesting I offroaded in it [maybe in time I will learn to laugh at that one..after a Xmas drink etc...]
Top marks to Oxford Audi for the best customer service I have ever experienced from a main dealer - Niki fought the customers' corner all the way and then some... I was initially meant to cashflow it @ £2k+

Re: soft wheels
Funny thing is I just noticed the same on one of my wheels. It's like the top coat is coming off. Maybe the wheels have been refurbished during the car's previous life. Another item on the checklist for the 40k service.dhali wrote:on my wheels you can see the "paint underneath" where its beginging to lift.

RE: Re: soft wheels
Hi chaps,
Although not an RS owner (sorry, but one day!) I've come to the forum in search of knowledge and information on the bendy wheels issue, known to afflict the B5 in particular.
I am the Tech Director of the A2 Owners Club (please, don't sneer) and a number of our members have recently been experiencing issues with buckled wheels (Audi dealers description, not mine) - all with the RS-style wheels, as fitted to the A2 Sport model.
My question is, was the soft alloy issue ever resolved, other than just doing a swap-out, or is the problem still on-going? Also, is it just the RS4 that is affected (I know that a few new RS6 owners have expressed concerns) or is it a more widespread problem, affecting all genuine Audi RS-style wheels?
For information, the part number of the wheel in question is 8L0 601 025 AC
Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

RE: Re: soft wheels
The "Safety Wheels" are covered under a lifetime Audi UK goodwill policy. Bent wheels that meet the requirements are swapped, new for old.
There is a video in the download section under B5 RS4 -> Video, and a ton of info on here.

Does anyone know if the bent wheels warranty applies to parallel imports ?
I've got a slight vibration on one of the front wheels after running over a hidden hole, I have printed off the letter which states that the goodwill policy applies worldwide and will try one of the local dealers but will probably be fobbed off by them stating it is'nt a UK car !
