SOFT WHEELS & DEALER NONSENSE

Cant believe I will be the first to encounter a local dealer that thinks I've been traversing valley, nountain and glen to get the alloy wheels out of shape...

However I have been pig in the middle between dealer and Audi warranty and it seems that this is this dealers first case of RS4 soft wheels. I have outlined to both that this is a real, genuine and accepted issue, but am getting nowhere fast.

Other than switch to an RS4 experienced dealer many miles away, any suggestions? I can SEE the bloody deformation after an allegedly 'non covered' pot hole flat on one wheel; the other (OPPOSITE REAR) one i didnt even know was out of shape - they told ME...

I so dont have time to fight with them and have NEVER bent a wheel in 25 yrs on ANY car!

Looks like I'm not the only one http://www.rs246.com/modules.php?op=mod ... ght=alloys

HOW similar as set of nonsense!

My car is in at the dealers right now having three wheels replaced (Guildford Audi).
The deformation has to be between 2 and 4 mm. If it is more they won't replace it under warranty. One of mine is very noticeably out of shape, which basically means it is more than 4mm unfortunately. :(

Tell the dealers to contact audi warranty services with the extent of deformation for each wheel, and the warranty guys should then authorise / confirm which wheels they will replace. The dealer then orders the wheels against the warranty reference, which should also cxover the cost to swap the tyres over.

Hope that helps mate.

Cheers,
John.

Theres a letter on here somewhere from Audi Uk stating the fact they would replace the soft wheels under a lifetime warranty, you may want to print it off and take it in with you next time.

John,

Thought the wheels were only replaced if they were above a certain deformation (+3mm?) not below it?

The letter has the exact details on it Im sure.

Yep, its in the downloads section.

Btw, that 'lifetime' seems to have been interpretted as lifetime of the car, which in turn has been equated to 10 years :|

There's a whole fecking video in the downloads section. The letter should be an addition to the owners manual. Call Audi customer services, they'll sort it.

sorry, our mails crossed.
Yes, deformation has to be greater than 2mm but less than 4mm, and the wheel should show no signs of kerbing or general neglect.

How long is the bodywork covered for - 12 yrs isn't it??

Would argure the fact that the wheels would want to last that long also....

Dealer has been pointed to the download letter days ago :)

Thanks for the help chaps - bloody ridiculous this uniquely Audi bendy wheel stuff. Enough to put you off the marque for life given this hassle and 'ostriching' :(

You want to have been about at the start then  ..........not much fun. Some of the older faces here and a few who moved on, had pitched battles with the dealers and Customer Service, I threw in the towel and handed mine back, didnt stop me getting another one though :kissmyrings:
