360 Spyder

On the M4 today, I seemed to be fairly trounced by an F360 Modena or at least it felt that way... I can't really throw a tantrum as I spent circa £70,000+ less and had 3 passengers and their luggage...
But I was interested if anyone knows, would it be ever be realistic to be in a position to beat the little tike if I see him again?
And where would I start?
Currently unmodified.
Is the steering on these cars considered quite light? I have noticed on occasion, a little skittishness and the odd pull when I use the brakes? Is there an individual or company that could give the car the once over while I still feel I have time to call the dealer if there was anything that needed attention?
Cheers.
PS Could anyone advise on additives? IE "NITROX" which is supposed to keep everything nice and clean... Good idea or no?

I wouldn't get to bothered about being beaten by a 360, you have to bear in mind the difference in power (381BHP to around 440+BHP for the 360) and the fact the 360 is alot lighter than the RS4 never mind with 3 passengers and luggage....
The first and easiest upgrade in my opinion would be a chip upgrade by the likes of REVO or AMD the rest is personal choice!?!

Hi Paul and thanks, should have known better, but had no idea a 360 had so much bhp. Think I'll keep out of trouble from now on....
Does an upgrade totally invalidate Audi warranty? And does it tend to send insurance through the roof, or should you keep schtum?
Anyone have any views on other queries?
Thanks!!

Yes it would if Audi found out about it, but REVO for example do a switchable upgrade that can be turned off for servicing or warrenty repairs and turned back on after!!
Personaly I wouldn't tell insurance about ECU upgrades but that is just my opinion....

360 Modena has 294kW, 400 hp according to Ferrari. Are they playing it down? 460hp RS4, stage 3, should match a 360?

The RS4 suffers quite dramitacally from tramling i.e. wandering or pulling on undulations on the road from eg. white lines. The biggest and usually primary culprit is the crap Pzero tyres or worn tyres. I and a great number of others have found it hard to believe how much of an effect on the handling part worn tyres can be.
If your tyres are wearing reasonably even i.e. both sides of the tyre are evenly worn then chances are your wheel alignment is ok.
Don't be too concerned if the middle of the tyre is worn more or less than the sides. This is more a function of the tyre pressure owing to the fact that over inflation will cause the centre/middle of the tyre to balloon and become the first point of contact on the road rather than the whole width. Obviously under inflation will cause the sides of the tyre to wear and leave the middle in tack. The key is uneven wear on either side.

Thanks for that - I'll check the pressures - glad its nothing too serious to worry about.
RS4 vs 360 or GT3

Hi Fellows,
Firstly this is highly counts on the driver. I will say it will be not too much distance away a std RS4 behind the std 360, except too far behind to catch 360C.S. and 996GT2,3 &Turbos.
I have kept closer enough or at least one std 360 passed during a track day, and lost too far on mod. 360s. by my un-mod. RS4 street tires setup but rainning,
However I got chipped yesterday, and beaten a stock 996 GT3 running up to 250km/h arround the city in less than 10 Kms, night, good weather but slighly heavy traffic. one more persons added to my RS4.
The guys was thumbs up during my passsing.
I think a 996 GT3 should be fast enough to keep 360 modena in a safety distance to pass of course the driver in the end.
Regards
Ben

the 360 Spyder has abt. 1500 kgs empty weight (Spyder has abt. 80 kgs more than Coupe) and compared to the stock RS4 the engine has 67 Nm less torque.
With a slightly tuned RS4 ABT (420 HP, 540 Nm, i.e. 167 Nm more than the 360) you can outrun a 360 Spyder up to 200 km/h. Have done it several times. At 290 km/h it is head to head. .....Are you sure you would try this in the UK ?
