Four years ago I went car-shopping with a budget of approx £10000. My first choice was a 5 door Impreza WRX. Apart from the salesman saying "we don't do joyrides" when I requested a test drive (a bit perplexing when they had a selection of much shinier STI's on the forecourt and I was pointing at the boring one in the corner), I was underwhelmed by the performance almost as much as I was gobsmacked by the insurance quote (double that of the RS4). By contrast, the Audi salesman was friendly and clearly not judgemental because shortly after being blown away by the way the thing went I put down a deposit on a car costing over 3 times my budget. I even went back and tried another WRX because my experience was a contrast to the hype I had heard and read, but it was no different - a bit undramatic.

With regard to turbo-lag, the power delivery of my standard car certainly ups the ante at approx 2500 rpm (max. torque on paper). I find this quite endearing. I also would not hesitate to keep this machine to well over 100000 miles.

I've been thinking about this one also, agree if he is who is says than it could be a good deal, though does anyone think there would be any suspension issues with a car that mileage? I'm currently rebushing the suspension on my Honda Integra Type-R, and its a right pain and expensive - any thoughts?
