Hmmm! Would you take this bet???

do it, empty motorway stretch. . . show his Audi kick BM's balls
RE: Re: Hmmm! Would you take this bet???
I love that toll booth stretch (going south) and love it how everyone winds it up from there, even with the healthiest of starts somehow I manage to weave in and out and stil end up hitting the fast lane before everyone else

1. Agree with many here, with the performance of these cars, racing on enclosed roads is not really the option as it comes down to driver and many other factors, which quite frankly make it too dangerous for me and other road users.
2. As quattrokid says, a short track like Knockhill, would probably give him the handling advantage the M3 obviously has in "dry" conditions. And of course driver factor also comes into it (not that I'm conceding in any way that this *osser will out drive me) If I could guarantee a wet day it would be no contest imho - but it's a sizeable chunk of wedge to recklessly throw away under less than favourable conditions. The money isn't actually as important to me as holding the end up for the RS4!! (hower, taking it off him would seriously *iss him off)
"The mission, should I decide to accept it", is probably to catch him one night (without actually arranging it) when he leaves work and on the motorway give him a go up to an "nominally" acceptible speed. Remember, he has based the bet on the abiltity to "paste me". I assume I only have to stick with him to win the bet. Yes?
Despite all the factors discussed here, surely a 430bhp RS4 would manage at least that? (I think the fourth and fith gear acceleration is phenominal)
It appears to me that some here who have stated that they can actually pull away probably have slightly more bhp than me?
Yes, I know on ultimate top speed I would bury him due to the fact he has a limiter, but I don't think I would get away with taking his money on that basis. Me thinks a burst from general motorway speed with a quick burst of acceleration up to *** will be the deciding factor, and I honestly don't think he could actually pull away?
This is a lot of honour at stake for our motor (and lolly) so, all opinions welcome, prior to debating with myself whether to just leave it for another day, if you know what I mean.
Thanks everyone!

Noticed Contigo that your exactly the same spec as me. How does it compare with the FQ400 (thought that fq400 would be just a tad too much for us given the weight advantage)Contigo wrote:I'd give him a go in any weather on any (private) road. I've had blasts with FQ400's which are quick so the new M3 saloon doesn't worry me really. As far as ground covering goes a remapped B5 is the nuts.
Have you ever come accross a new M3?

Pwned a new M3 on 4th and 5th gear pulls and I had two mountain bikes on the roof and a boot full of gear, wasn't much in it, I have to admit. Also did one at VMax.
Funnily enough, I pulled up at the M6 toll going northbound earlier in the year, just as Rowan Atkinson in his maroon F1 was coming through next to me. He wasn't tempted to play.

different drivers - different results surely...
And what does he consider a 'pasting' if he mariginally beats you do you have to stump up!
Ive gone with an old shaped M3 cabrio at speed in mine - couldn't get him off the rear end. EVO FQ360 - nothing between us rolling
RS4 is heavy and lots of power losses probably twice that as a m3 (simple logic - dont flame me!). Evo is lighter
I'd say you'd be hard pushed to pull away if even gettng alongside him in ANYTHING other than pi$$ing rain.
Or I'm a CRAP driver (which could well be true!)

Didn't think an E46 would hang on to a re-mapped RS4 even up to 100 Topbear, did you leave the handbrake on?TopBear wrote:I've torched a few E46 M3's away from roundabouts and such like.. they hang on until about 100 then it's 'bye bye time'
Not had any opportunities to embarass the newer ones yet.
