where do you stand on the legal front... the police released the video as evidence... without your permission I assume. What if you said this video breaches your human privacy rights? what then???

Over here you'd just get a €120 fine for speeding anything above 50km/h and a few points. Scary what the driving world will look like in the future.

It's a bit strange though isn't it. The T5's will do 150mph no problem, but he only took it up to 110 which is just a nice Sunday cruising speed really (for these RS4 / T5 etc cars).

Also while we are on this subject, the police speed vans which park on overhead bridges and point the laser down the motorway - how far away do they start measuring?

Foggy, I can understand why you appealed. The B5 RS4 picks up speed so effortlessly. You *could* get to 100 mph within a very short period of time, whereas the slower-accelerating T5 would have to reach a higher terminal speed trying to catch back up.

Whilst my car is nowhere near as fast as your twin turbo, I'm guilty of occasionally pushing the envelope when the road opens right up after being baulked behind much slower traffic like you were there.

volvo T5... ah powered by Audi's 5 pot 20v turbo then. what you recon a rozzer would be tuned up to? My UrS4 was supposed to be 230bhp but 6 months after selling it I get an email from the next owner saying it was chipped back in 1994 by Rothelle up to 265bhp. So the next 3 owners didnt even know it was modified because it didnt say anything in the history of the car. Went like stink though

technically as they easliy lost sight of you there is now way for them to prove you didn't change drivers......read a case about a porsche driver that lost the police at 140mph and they lost ....he did have a blinding defence lawyer though.

The story is a damn site more interesting that they didn't give me the speed when they pulled me he asked me for a mobile phone number which he phoned up some 3 hrs later and said my speed was 102mph.

They used uncalibrated stop watches also they was home office non approved devices.

The copper wasnt vascar trained neither did he issue pace on request!!!!!

But all in all they was f**king useless as my speed was totally incorrect (o;

The judge said in his closing speech that they can totally disregard any doubt as the video flies in the face of common sense that i wasnt speeding (o;

Oh and the copper reckons his foot was to the floor and in "sports" mode and couldnt catch me i reckon he should grow some balls and stop driving in stilletto's.

Maybe he had a boost leak then seriously! If you go foot to the floor in a T5 @ 110 you'd quickly be up to 140 no problems. Wouldn't catch the RS4 by a long shot but he difinitely backed off at 110.

I've just looked at the video again...there appear to be breaks in the footage and evidence of editing? i.e. there is a momentary shot of your car stopped on the hard shoulder while the "chase" is still on. Sure if this is true the evidence should not have been admissable.

There is no audio...would have been interesting to hear what they were saying to each other. Did you hear any audio in Court?

I've just looked again. I've now noticed that you were doing perfectly legal speeds when he decided to "give chase"..accelerating from 60mph up to 72mph. So at that point they had determined that you were going to break the law by speeding. Is this why there is no audio - would it incriminate the officers) concerned.

Thats what I thought when I watched it. It definitely looked like they were looking for someone with a high speed motor. A bit of fun for them catchng it up I suppose. Its a shame they had a major boost leak though (sarcastic). I think they highly underestimated the power of the RS4. Thats why they got left behind. Then they got pissed and decided to pull you over,

Thats why theres no audio. ITs very funny why they didnt go after that Micra or the other string of cars at the start that followed the Micra. They were all doing the over 80. Same as the RS4 at the begining. Which is pretty much what everyone does in the fast lane int he real world anyway.

They must have thought, theres a car we know a little bit about. Yeah right. Eat dust. lol.

They must be looking for fast cars on purpose and keeping their distance. It didnt look like they were really giving it the beans. Just keeping their distance and watching.

Got to keep an eye out for those sneaky unmarked cars.

I got stopped in traffic a few months back. They said I was driving like a nutter. Unmarked VW passatt. Thing is I wasnt. I thinkt hey were just frightened of the exhaust noise.I cant have been speeding. I was in heavy traffic. That really didnt make sence to me. I told them, how can I be driving like a nutter. Ive been stuck in traffic for 15 mins. All the guy could say, IF I catch you speeding it again, Im writing a ticket. I thought it was someone having a laugh, but they had all the kit, walkie takies equiptment in the car and then they went off with their undercover blue lights.

Strangest moment Ive had with the police.

There was this other time where a polica car on call with siren lights the lot had to come through a normal local road, but there was no way for me to park on the left and it was hooting me to get out of the way. So I put my foot down and left it beind for dust, drove about 200 yards then pulled over where safe.

I got a dirty look for that. Was a classic moment though. When I pulled over, I had to wait for the police car to come past for what seemd an eternity. My mate was laughing his head off.
