....I believe Rob Kely did this in 12.5 seconds, but again this type of driving can only damage your transmission

Er I can vouch for that - after posting a similar time at Elvington I remember the euphoria being replaced somewhat quickly with disappointment as I realised my gearbox was f**ked!

Mind you Bushy I'm amazed that the M3's can get anything on the four wheel drive even to 30mph.

Soz Andy only got PS One in the car

The real problem we have IMHO is wieght, we have a huge power loss in the transmission and got a big car to get rolling

Also I didnt rev to 4000rpm then ditch the clutch just did a reasonably quick start
Can't beat a bit of boost!

You must have been very gentle on the clutch Steve! The new M3 is fairly slow to 30 compared to the 4. (around .4secs slower)
In fact it's only when you're in the 60-100 zone that they equal out (the 4 should still be .5 sec up on the M3 at 100.)
Mercedes AMG E55 is fairly rapid!
Current: B7 RS4 Avant in Sprint
and 3.00 TDi Allroad (AMD Chipped to 280BHP but don't tell my wife!)
Previously:
2 x B5 RS4's in various states of tune from standard (no.93 out of the factory) to 480 BHP and 1 x early B7 RS4

M5 no problem on a track
Well, I've been up her arse, so I know about these things, but I reckon Sabine could have me any time she pleased in her M5 on the Nordschliefe!

In Mexico City, there is only one car to fear, and that's the Porsche twin turbo, besides that, no one. I allready beat the F-360 and the M3 on a 1/4 mile and by far. In here the turbo cars rule because of the high altitude (7,500 feet above sea level) and low oxygen.

What would be the impact of 7,500 feet altitude on a NOS preparation ?

Taipan,
The NOS works wonderfull, but the thing is how long can you last on NOS. Maybe the tank will do you 150-200 seconds before you have to recharge it. For drag-race (1/4 mile) it works, but not for racing or driving it on the highway at high speeds.

Even at that altitude, Eric, the Scooby would just go "pop"

I find mine quite slow off the mark. Of course, I do not sidestep the clutch.

The only one that has so far bothered me was a Volvo T5.....

Not the M5! I went for a little break earlier, and pulled up at some lights with an M5. It was one of those two lanes going into one in about two hundred metres, so obviously one has to drop the pedal a touch. Gently off the clutch and the M5's on his way. But lo, what's this, the subtle roar of the V6 comes into play, and those turbo's spool up a beauty, sending me absolutely PISSING off into the distance All a bit pukka if you ask me, and this dude was NOT hanging around in his M5. Cheeky bastard even tried it on a bit further on as it went back to two lanes, sneaking up the inside, but no my dear old bean, that is not going to happen. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHOOOOSH gone. I love my variable boost switch Unfortunately, so does the book keeper of the local constabulary Ah well.

Oh dear.
You're all forgetting the bits about how you had the mother-in-law, six kids, twenty-eight great danes and a three-piece suite in the car at the same time

Well I've never done that fully loaded, although I did try once with a fair load of alcoholic beverages on the way back from France (like over 200 bottles of the old vino), and even then it was quite happy to go! Unfortunately the wine wasn't, and after a LOT of rattling and crashing about, pretty much everything had moved about 5 feet, but nothing broke. Thank God.
Gave it full tilt with my beloved a little while back. She's one of these "nothing really scares me" type of people who kack their pants at anything fairly rapid. She wasn't happy, and was punching my arm the whole way from 0-120 or so. I thought it was hilarious. Her reaction was even more amusing when I nailed the middle pedal. Never heard so many four letter words in one breath! I loved it! Sadly, she wasn't impressed, and the guy in the Escort RS Cosworth in my rear view wasn't exactly delighted

Still grovelling about that actually
