Hi
I have a problem with the xenon driving light on drivers side. Passenger light has no problem.
The light works for about five minutes when first starting the car, but then fails. When trying to switch on and off the light it reignites, but failes after ten seconds every time. I have switched both the bulb and the ballast it self with no result.
Is there anything else that can cause this?
It's bin like this for about two months now with out getting worse.

The other item crucial to xenons working is the ignitor - 8D0 907 391A
It's in the headlight, the wire from bulb holder goes to it according to ETKA
Lucky its available separately as on Golf 4 you need to buy a whole lamp.

It sounds like this is the item I refered to as a ballast and has already bin replaced.. Whatever it is called, I have replaced the unit mounted in the bottom of the headlamp with six torx-screws. Including the attatched wire with the bulb socket.
Is there anything else nearby that could cause the problem?

Not sure, but there might be a relay which is failing?
Also, did you do any work around the front of the car around the same time it started failing? Re-spray, servicing etc? I'm thinking could be a stretched wire in the loom\plug?

No work was done to the car at that time.
To information, when the light started failing the first few days, it could have problem igniting the buld causing it to flash rapidly for two seconds before it turned of. But it has never done that since.
I hear a relay clicking, but I don't think its related.
The relay may be something else, but I haven't found out what it controls. It clicks unsystematickly, but only when the car is moving and not when accelerating. It never clicks when the engine is pulling the car as when driving up hill. But if I press down the clutch while moving or let go of the accelerator, it starts clicking. It dosen't matter what lights are on, if I am using the cruisecontrol or anything else. An dI don't think its a loose connection as it doesn't matter if I am turning quickly back and forth.
Anybody got a clue what relay it might be?
It's a bit hard to locate as the car has to be moving and the relay is about behind the steeringwheel.
