Gutted Pre-CATs vs New Downpipes

Post by A20LEE » Sun Aug 17, 2008 7:08 am

Costs the cost difference fitted? Thinking out loud really, the down pipes should be dead simple so would it be a cheaper or better option to buy 3" cat free downpipes rather than getting the factory ones gutted?

here in Italy Supersprint charges 1600 Euro for DPs(70mm) with 100cpi main cats and no pre-cats.
It's a STEAL.

I'd go with gutted dps.......

After talking to Steph, I'd go with gutted pre cats. He's fitted catless d/p's and has lost torque but gained h/p. imo torque is better!

mine have just been de-cated.... labour is the same regardles but add cost of new downpipes and you start to get exapensive needlessly.

if you take out the main cats the car will be a lot louder and the extra heat may burn out the silencer packing depending what it is. thats what happened to mine anyway :nogarors4:

Gutted precats is the most effective mod 8) The gain of power+torque make it really interesting :D

Straight through pipes are good (i have them) but if i had to chose again i would go for 3" downpipes.....

Gutted oem precats are more noisy than straigh through pipes.

And Jimbo is right , by using the straight through pipes you can have some troubles with the silencers :? due to increase of heat passing through them......

Always the same story.....Do one mod and it has an effect on something else!!!!! But we love mods aren't we??
