Beeping (not 4 beeps) as I drive

Post by ptkend » Thu Mar 08, 2007 2:36 pm

Every now and then the car starts beeping at me, 1 beep every 10 seconds or so. No warning lights come on, and I get an OK when I start up. It eventually goes away, although last week it went on for around 5 minutes. Anyone any ideas ?

I had this the other week on a long journey, did it cut the radio off as well?

I thinks its a warning for when you've been driving for over 2 hours continuously???? i never looked it up though......

In my car (S3) the DIS flashes (no beeps) when I have done 2 hours driving without the engine being turned off for more than 10 mins.

Have you had a good look in the manual, there are lots of little settings that you can do with the car that sometimes you dont even know youve done eg. yesterday i set some speed thingy it came up as a circle with the number 1 and mph in it and that kept beeping.

Try turning the TP button off on the stereo. I had this and it was a build up of traffic messages in the memory.

Beeping (not 4 beeps) as I drive

Post by ptkend » Fri Mar 09, 2007 10:38 am

It's not to do with the radio (I turned that off) and it's not to do with speed limits (that shows up on the DIS). It might be to do with oil pressure as I've noticed it takes a while to lift off 60, longer than it used to. But if it was low oil I would have thought the DIS would have said something.

Any more ideas ? Thanks in advance.

You could always check your oil level using the old fashioned dip stick approach ;)

Pressure, temperature, whatever. I know my Boyle's law ;-). The fact is, I know it's not to do with the oil (I have now checked).

So no-one knows what this could be ?

Yes,

Its been said already, if it was on a long run its the warning telling you to take a break, it should say 2H in the dash to say you have been driving 2 hours.

If you dont stop or leave the ignition running on short journeys it still counts up.
