But i was hoping you could help by giving me an idea of running costs? average MPG, service costs, intervals.. etc...

Mine has averaged 18.5mpg in the 9 months since i've owned it. It definitely runs better on 98RON fuel. Came back from Gatwick monday and averaged 19.8 with very little loud pedal so never going to be economic.
As for servicing i'll let you know soon

Insurance isn't too bad given what it is.
Can't think of anything i would change it for regardless of £££'s

Mine returns 21.6 mpg (MTM stage 1) as an everyday drive mixed type of roads and varying degrees of madness. Apart from cambelts aevery 40,000 miles I find the servicing costs very good indeed. I think most users tend to change the oil/filters at about 10,000 intervals rather than using the long service indicator built into the car.
IMHO get a warranty.
Insurance is pretty good too despite the mods I paid £ 630 last year with full Class 1 business use. But before anyone else says it...I'm an older git than many here!
If you're thinking of an RS4, dont think JUST DO IT. You'll not regret it.

yeah insurance was a shock for me too! 660 fully comp buisness class 1 also!
RE: Re: Newbie - RS4 questions...
Personally I didn't think the insurance was that bad! It was only marginally more expensive than the S4 I had before, and it's still cheaper than my business partner pays for his beemer 318. yep a 318...I think he pays around the grand mark.....probably because he has a loaded premium cos he keeps hitting our office building with his car (well twice in the last 18 months!)
