Cruise control not working - any ideas?
Just bought a B5 (my 3rd) and cruise isn't working
No VAG COM faults at all
Stalk seems to work as you can monitor it with VAG COM measuring block in engine control 62 (or is it 63?)
The only thing that doesn't seem right is that the measuring block never shows that cruise has been enabled (it should change a 0 to 1 if it is)
The car was originally supplied in Jersey which has little need for cruise with 40mph limit but the stalk is there.
Can someone remind me if a light comes on the dash when cruise is switched on? Some Golfs and 8E A4 have a speedo symbol when it's on but I don't recall this with my old RS4s?
Also does anyone know how to enable cruise using VAG COM?
I don't think it's a pedal switch to blame as no faults stored in engine or ABS ecus.
Thanks

RE: Cruise control not working - any ideas?
To answer one question - my Cruise works fine, no lights on the dash when activated though. Car first registered April 2001.

Yes that helps Rick thanks, I did an instrument cluster test and no cruise light came on then but again had niggling doubts as to whether it had to be enabled in the first place for it to light.
The hunt continues.
It is quite possible that being a Jersey car it wasn't set up right from day one and the 1 lady owner wasn't a user of cruise so didn't notice.
Will report back

Got it sorted.
Checked the VCDS site and found some info on enabling cruise on B5 Passat using Login Code 11463.
Tried it and it worked!
The measuring block was actually 66 and with this enabled the cruise control active field that was previously 0 was now 1.
Not tested but 99.9% sure it's sorted

Nice collection, you cant beat the Audi's.. my garage is very similar. In fact the GT40 and Cobra never get used as the Audi's are just so much better to drive and much quicker...neckarsulm wrote:Still got B7 but couldn't resist this 51k miler 1 lady owner B5, room for the 2 cars in any RS fans garage as they are so differentNice work.. Goodwood Green, not my favourite but the provenance makes up for it and alloy optics help:)
Funnily enough the lady owner also had something called an A1 Cobra in her garage? I thought it was her hubbies but she had the logbook amongst the Audi docs and her name was on it too.
Pulled the cover off and showed me it, looked great in a bright blue.
Mind you her day to day car was an Merc minibus for her 8 kids (from 2 marriages)
