Re: B6 S4 Test Drive
Good write up. What would be your take on stock B5 Vs B6? Did it feel worthy of an extra, what, 20 grand? The car is not slow by any means of the imagination, but it doesn't feel quick. It has not got that 'thrust you back in the seat' feeling that makes you grin from ear to ear. Yeah I kinda imagin...

Re: S4 figures
From Autocar (which over the years I've found to be the most accurate):
50 - 70mph
S4 (Avant) 7.0
M3 7.7
...but remember this was recorded in top gear

Re: B6 S4 Test Drive
Looking forward to your report mate. Everyone who knows me is, I fear, getting a little sick of hearing my on-going dilemma of whether to stump up 25k odd and plumb for the new model, or keep my trusty B5, save a load of money, but sacrifice the newer registration. Is the B6 really any quicker/bette...

Re: miles per tank part 2
Bit late on this one guys, but I haven't reset the DIS for the last 60-odd thousand miles (!) and it's showing 24.7mpg. That's a mixture of about 40% motorway cruising, 40% slightly faster motorway crusing (return journeys - they're always the ones you want to get over and done quickest!), and 20% t...

Re: Petrol
Interesting you should mention Texaco fuel there Richness, because, though I only ever use normal 95 unleaded (because of my high mileage, hence saving money!), as soon as I've filled up with Texaco petrol in the past (just normal 95 unleaded), I've immediately noticed a definite performance improve...

Service Interval
Anyone know the service interval on the new S4? 10K? Or have they increased it? Hope they have: might make up for the fuel economy....

Re: Car refusing to accelerate beyond 5000rpm
Finally got the car to my local dealer last night for them to check it out quickly. Both banks are running lean. He suggested 3 possible causes: the MAF, the injectors or the lambda sensor. The problem is, Audi can't replicate the conditions under which I was experiencing the flat spot (ie under hea...

Re: Car refusing to accelerate beyond 5000rpm
Cheers for the help lads. But although an experienced (but pretty average driver), I'm unfortunately a little technically unitiated! Could someone be so kind as to quickly explain what MAF and VAG-COM are? Also Joshie: even though you experienced the same problem, did you then continue to run the ca...

Re: Car refusing to accelerate beyond 5000rpm
It probably realised youwere breaking the law Ooops silly me; I forget to mention I popped over to Germany for a bit of late night shopping but presumably you weren't up at the limiter at 155mph ? No, I've been up in that range plenty of times be...

Car refusing to accelerate beyond 5000rpm
Weird thing happened last night. In 6th gear, my car would not accelerate past 5000rpm, but only when I was in 6th gear. 4th and 5th went through 5k easily, but in the highest gear, as the engine approached 5000rpm, I could feel the engine "pull back" - felt like an accentuated flat spot. Any ideas?

Re: M3 thrashes S4 in the wet, and beats it in the
Dippy Thanks for your reply - very interesting. I'm concerned about your tests with your brother as when my S4 was stock I always outran 330's, even those driven by boy-racers Yes, coming out of tight corners I left him easy (because of the 4 wheel drive no doubt), but in a straight line, he was rig...

Re: M3 thrashes S4 in the wet, and beats it in the
Hi Phil Sounds to me like the M3 may have had a little work done to it Don't think so mate, and the reason I say this is that my brother's got the 330 Sport, and through the gears, it pretty well matches my S4. He in turn has had a go against his boss's C32 AMG, which almost exactly replicates the p...

Hi all. New to this forum (found it via www.rs6.com )...never knew there were so many like-minded people on the web! I'm no track driver, but I've had my 2.7 S4 for over 2 years and done 80,000 miles in that time, so I know a little! Yes I read this article too. Obviously written by someone who woul...
