Actually the patent covers those things as prior art. The only invention claim made in the patent is one of specific catalytic surface coatings on the intake valves.

Arthur If you are referring to US Patent #6866031, then I've posted the link to it in on other sites. I did not just "disingenuously" post part of it. From the time I first posted on this, I provided a link to the full patent. I obtained knowledge of this patent from an engineer inside Audi US who ...

as I previously pointed out, there is no way deposits cause a 10% loss in volumetric efficiency, and that is the only way a 10% loss torque can be realized since displacement and compression remain the same (as does the number '4' and Pi~3.141596....) Arthur, If the deposits cause timing retardatio...

Arthur I do not agree (as does Audi) that in a properly operating vehicle (no flap failure, coils, etc.) that the deposits impact performance if the timing is retarded enough to cause a 70HP loss, 20%, (ie, at its limit) a code will be set period, end of story you can believe what you like, I will ...

Arthur I'm not sure what your beef with me is. I have no vested interest in the information I've posted on IVD. Some things you say are right. Some are dead wrong. There is a significant body of research throughout the automotive design community regarding GDI IVD problems. The seminal book on the s...

You can do it through VAG-COM by resetting both ECU. This resets any learned values and all codes.

Aidan,

So? Audi is required to design their engines for the fuel quality world wide. If their engines can't handle it, then they have a design defect. They know going in what the quality of fuel is in every country they sell to.

Another comment. Just because your RS4 is running well and producing full power now, does not mean that all RS4s are, or that yours will continue to. Clearly some are not producing full power. Some have vacuum leaks. Some have intake valve deposits. Some have manifold flap problems ... etc. I know s...

if far off, check for vaccum leaks, some folks had them, once fixed the car was as good as new... you imply you've done dyno runs...post them so I can pick them apart...lol Several comments. Some engines have had vacuum leaks. Some have had significant intake valve deposits. Both causing peak torqu...

Arthur,

You're a silly man who has to be right, science be damned. I'm sure glad you don't work for me. You wouldn't last in my R&D consulting group for a week.

Arthur for an engineer, you do not seem to be able to read the English. You think you know what I say, but you do not. Here is what I wrote: The engine computes torque, based on engine sensors and factory characterization Here it is after your filter: the engine can not measure its own torque... it ...

the 'droop' in torque could be: air flow dyno correction stability/traction systems, torque retardation/limitation most likely a combination \ Arthur, You can log the "droop" or "boost" in torque at 5500 rpm under full throttle with VAG-COM. The engine computes torque, based on engine sensors and f...

Arthur, You still have a conceptual problem with the difference between a knock and a misfire. A misfire occurs, and is registered by the ECU, when the mixture fails to ignite. A knock occurs, and is registered by the ECU, when the mixture detonates. Misfires are logged and if enough occur will caus...
