Re: broken chain tensioner guide
so I originally took off the wrong side (bank 1), put that all back on then worked on bank 2, got the chain tensioner replaced and everything put back together. Now Bank 1 valve cover is leaking. I took it off again, double checked everything was cleaned, put back in and torqued down properly and it...

Re: Cam chain tensioners/pads removal and replacement guide
so the arrow is technically inside the notch, but just barely. My other concern is once I get it all back together do I just start the car up normally? Or I have seen some people say to pull the fuel pump fuse and starting the car with a key a few times to get the oil pumps all working and primed be...

Re: Cam chain tensioners/pads removal and replacement guide
How loose was the chain when you got it on? Mine seems pretty loose right now. I’m assuming the new tensioner just needs to be primed with oil to tension the chain correct? Is there a good way to prime it? Also does this look close enough?

Re: Cam chain tensioners/pads removal and replacement guide
okay glad to hear I can do it without moving the crank back 45deg. that locking pin was terrible to get in the first time. My thought is to make a mark on the camshafts to mark the current location compared to the camshaft holding block. Then removing the camshafts and reinstalling. I assume this sh...

Re: Cam chain tensioners/pads removal and replacement guide
yup, I was able to get the crank locking pin in. (HUGE PAIN), okay so if I just use the locking bar to turn the camshafts back to time I should see the notches on the camshaft? when reinstall the camshaft I assume you put it at TDC, aligning the marks. then as you tighten down the hold down bolts it...

Re: Cam chain tensioners/pads removal and replacement guide
when you did your driver side chain tensioner, did the camshaft jump back like 30 degs? I am currently working on mine and as soon as I popped the gear off the tapered shaft for bank B the camshaft shifted. I also do not see any markings on the camshafts themselves. only on the camshaft caps. Just w...

Re: Vaico Camshaft Adjusters - Thumbs Up
I assume you did this with the chain still in place? how to did you depress/loosen the chain to get enough space to get it in? Mine feels really tight.

Re: Vaico Camshaft Adjusters - Thumbs Up
How difficult was it to replace just the guide? I bought a new tensioner and was thinking of just pulling the new top guide off and replacing my broken top guide.

broken chain tensioner guide
So I broke my valve tensioner guide. Chain still seems to be tight around the tensioner and gears.
What are the chances that it jumped timing? Is it like 100% if the guide breaks the chain jumps?
Also has anyone had luck just replacing the guide itself and not the whole tensioner?

Re: valve cover bolt replacment
yeah so I purchased the whole bolt assembly, (Bolt, sleeve and rubber grommet) but there does not appear to be anyway to remove the screw from the sleeve.
So I am not sure how you are supposed to remove the old bolt assembly from the valve cover and install the new bolt assembly.

valve cover bolt replacment
Has anyone been able to replace the bolts for the valve cover? I had one that is almost stripped out and I wanted to replace it before reinstalling everything. But they appear to be encapsulated bolts. I can not figure out how to remove the bolt itself, or how I would even install the new one. There...

Re: C5 RS6 Valve cover gasket replacements both sides
oh perfect, thank you.
Has anyone had luck just replacing the solenoid on the timing chain tensioner instead of replacing the whole assembly?
My chain guides seem pretty good, but the solenoid itself seems to be shot. Not measuring any OHMS. So I would like to avoid removing camshafts if possible.

Re: C5 RS6 Valve cover gasket replacements both sides
I am currently in the process of doing this myself, a couple quick questions, the bolt for the water pipe, does anyone have a picture of where its at? I have tried searching the web and can not find any good information on it. Do you have to put the car in service mode to reach it? Also, kind of a d...
